Ok, aside from todays Game 7 meltdown the year has been pretty exciting. Lots of young talent, which has really been shown at times. The biggest problem I have is consistency. Nevertheless there should be a few changes this offseason, some obvious and some still calling for some debate. What is your offseason plan? Here are some of the keys IMO....
1. Coach and GM- Are both of them if any back for next season. I feel BK deserves another year, but I still don't believe Woody is the guy that can get us there. We need a vet coach that can keep these guys together for 82 and beyond.
2. Josh Smith- A pure raw talent, looks like a great career ahead of him. Do you feel his play deserves a max deal? He flat out has disappeared at times, including today. Can't shoot, pass, or dribble the ball well. IMO this is not worth a max contract
3. Chillz- he has shown this series that we need to match any offer he recieves. His value off the bench is too valuable to our squad.
4. Defense- this group is below average on D, and I feel that is being nice. We need to bring in 1 or 2 lock down defenders, and upgrades over other bench spots.
5. Bench- our depth was given away for Bibby who dissapeared in this series. We were a .500 club after the trade but our depth was exposed many times down the stretch. We need serious upgrades there.
What are your thoughts on these things. We have a great core and a bright future ahead.
Great Season

1. Joe/Smoove/Horford are keepers unless we get a SUPERSTAR back for them. Their overall numbers might not be that great for the series(and Horford and Smith played awful in game7) but I am more impressed with those 3 after the series than I was before the series. Those 3 represented the Hawks very well.
2. We need a new coach and a new GM...end of story.
3. I'm not sure to do with the rest of the roster. I would probably re-sign Chilz just to be safe....he is pretty good value at the MLE. Some one has to be traded out of Bibby/Marvin/Zaza group if this team wants to really improve next year.

Good post.
Josh Smith should be first, second, and third priority this off-season.
ASG needs to get selective amnesia about this game and pay the guy.
Chill would be nice to re-sign but I wouldn't mind seeing Chill get a shot at starter somewhere and it could honestly help Marvin progress without that timed substitution pattern in place of Marvin.

I think we got to keep the Joshes. It won't be easy due to the way they both played this series. I think with many coaches/GMs watching those games, J. Chill will draw some good offers. Smith is more expensive and the Hawks will probably match whatever he's offered, so that might scare teams off. Zaza's value is much better now than it's been in a while, so I'd shop him around. Marvin was very disappointed this series. Bibby didn't show up either, but I think with more time with these guys, he can contribute. I'm very pleased with JJ and Horford. They are just untouchable IMO. I thought we could've put a better fight in game 7, but I can't complain. Thanks Hawks for the incredible memories/emotions this series brought. Now, it's focus on our bright future. We can only go up Hawks ! FLY HIGH YOUNG HAWKS !
GO HAWKS.

Great summary. As far as the guy's numbers go. Smith was matched up with the DPOY, there was an article published during the season regarding KG's MVP candidacy that said he held his opponents to 13% below their regular season shooting average. Joe was was the recipient of constant and aggressive doubles early in most of the games, they designed their team defense to get him off his rythm. Al played great for a rook - nuff' said.
Those guys all had HUGE series' against the league's runaway best team. Like you said, either a top notch superstar or just keep them and upgrade the supporting cast (a wing player that can hit an open J would REALLY nice, as evidenced by Marv's ability to do so for one game in this series).
