Why is everyone bringing up these dumb trade ideas for Smoove and Marvin already and the summer hasn't even set in?
We just woke up the city a little bit this year and those two are just now scratching the surface of what their gonna bring to the table for the next 5+ years (probably here in ATL) and we finally got national coverage. Now, even though we all know I'm open to keeping Chillz over Marvin, I don't think he's hit a ceiling. I just think he'll be solid if he just go to the hole with strength and expand his range out to 3pt range.
We just need to get our boys Smoove and Chillz resigned and then see what shape Bibby's going be in next year up until the trade deadline. I would like to keep Salim unless we're gonna keep Richardson and develop/play him consistently in our 2nd unit with Law + Chillz. Otherwise, we're sill gonna desperately need a perimeter scorer off the bench.
NOW THE ONLY guys that I've seen possibly on the block thus far that we should really think about TRADING FOR MARVIN or SMOOVE are:
Marvin + filler to DAL for J. Howard (giving us the Triple Josh Effect or Three Josh Mafia - LOL!)
or
Smoove for Melo (Losing Smoove for anything less would be another disasterous move / Melo could help us forget about Smooves highlights and focus on banners and rings) Plus, that would give us three Jordan players (Melo / JJ / Bibby)- FREE Jordans Give-away games - LOL!
Everyone just CHILL!!!

Get used to it. it will only get worse. In late June and July there will be a ton of Smith rumors out there. I don't plan on taking them seriously.
And acting like all we need to do is just resign the guys we have is silly. We only won 37 games. We lack perimeter shooting and defensive rebounding and we aren't going to address those problems just by resigning the Joshs.

Excitement is up right now, but most people realize that the team as constructed will still be middle of the pack in the East next year and no real threat for a title run. As such a lot of people are throwing out scenarios in hopes of getting to the next level. If you add to that the summer plan will most likely just be resigning the Joshs and signing David Andersen, then people are further prompted to dream up other moves because they doubt the resulting roster is any more likely to compete for a title.
The other thing hitting us is draft withdraw. Without a pick at all its become a situation where people wonder wouldn't we better if we could add this rookie, so what trade gives us that pick. Well, the only assets we have to trade by draft night are Marvin, Bibby, and Zaza. Their values are more about being expiring deals. Teams that want expiring deals normally want to keep high draft picks. The only way to get a good pick is to take on a bad contract with it, which is something the team has tried not to do in the rebuilding (except for the Speedy deal). Later picks can be purchased to fill in the depth, but don't expect that to happen from this ownership group.
I'm happy that the Hawks have people talking even if I disagree with a lot of the suggested moves.
