Do the Hawks want a late lotto pick?

Blazer fan here. There's a lot of speculation that Portland doesn't want their 13th pick in the draft. We're adding 2 rookies to the team already in Oden and Rudy, and a 3rd will get lost in the shuffle, not to mention tie up money that we'll use on a free agent next year. So I wanted to know, would the Hawks trade their first round pick next year (top 3 protected), for the 13th pick this year? If you think your franchise will build on the success they had last year, it seems like a great deal, and it gets you a pick to make up for the one you have to give to Phoenix. I'm not sure what you guys need on your team that you could target. Kevin Love is generally projected to be there. Not sure what your needs are.

No...top 3 protection is very weak especially considering we would be in the lottery most years with 37 wins.

A draft pick won't fix the Hawks

Bonzi, what the Hawks need won't come from the draft.

They need a new style of play that Woody doesn't provide.
They need someone who knows what it takes to get you to the top to come in a lead this young group.

They need a new leader that is in sync with a new GM.

Top 5-protection is a minimum because you can have the worst record in the league and still wind up at #4 without a little luck. But no because of financial issues this off season I don't think we'd do the move although it looks to yield a decent player. The cap-hold on the #13 pick might adversely affect our attempt to bring over David Andersen and resign our RFAs.

i think i would do it and go for D.J. Augustin , then start shopping bibby for some depth , maybe a james posey type player or a good backup C.

this will allow Law and Augustin to get some good minutes and fight for the starting job. and worry about trading one later on down the road , like how toronto has Jose and Ford right now.

I would like to have a pick, but the cost of what we would have to trade to get it would be too high,

dallas- the Hawks don't have any real caproom. A caphold for a first round pick is irrelevant when it comes to using the MLE to bring Andersen over.
