Anyone care to guess who this is? This is from Sekou's latest blog.

Hopefully someone not link to BK and Babcock. I don't know how ASG expects everyone to think things are changing around here when you bring a guy with connections to the last two GMs. It just shows they do not care about moving forward and are happy with the status quo.

Yeah the last time Sekou told us something big was coming up w/o telling us the exact details was right before the Bibby trade went down. Hopefully this is a good thing but you never know with our ownership group.

Ok....preliminary word I am hearing is that IF anyone was brought into the fray, it is someone who's already in the organization, and no one from the outside.

So, my guess is MAYBE one of these two people were interviewed:

Steve Smith or Harold Ellis

I thought for a second that maybe 'Nique is a candidate, but I cant see how he would enter the picture because of his close relationship to Gearon....who said he will be a Hawk for life. Putting 'Nique as GM would put Gearon in an awkward position if he doesn't cut it as GM.

Also, I wondered IF Grant turned down the offer?

If I hear anything...I'll holla back.

Thanks for the info.

I don't know anything about Ellis but if I had to choose between the two i would prefer Steve. Reason being is that he has already made his money and IMO would be less likely to be a stooge for Gearon.

Of course i have no clue if Steve could actually run a team.

Also, I find it odd that the ASG hasn't made a choice yet and the Pre-Draft Camps officially start in about an hour!

You've got to have a GM in place, with all teams being present at the camp, a league standard. Woody and his staff are already in Orlando, waiting for the new GM to be announced/ and to arrive. So I'd expect a GM to be announced in the next 6-12 hours. I dont see BK being there since the GM and coach are side by side during the camps.

This is another sign that ownership is inept.

I like that Steve Smith can point out little used or little known guys on other teams and says how they can be useful. I still think he could be a very good coach, but his player knowledge seems impressive. A

Smith is not qualified to be a GM. The only reason hiring him would make sense is because he is still a "name" even if he is unqualified (Jordan, Isiah,Bird, etc) so the fans will feel comfortable with him because they liked him when he was a very good basketball player(which has NOTHING to do with being a GM). He is a decent color commentator but the chances are that someone who has been in the front office for the last 10 years is going to be a much better GM than someone who has no experience what so ever.
