Jamal Crawford isn't a point guard and will never be one. All he does is shoot pull up jumpers and never gets him teammates involved in the game. We still haven't seen what Bibby can do because he was hurt the whole time he was here but if he doesn't show any signs of getting better by the trade deadline then we should move him for whatever we can get.

yep and I can't wait till we have a real PG running the show with some real burn, unlike last year's chaining to the bench.Luckily Woody will most likely be gone.HOPEFULLY.ATLfan wrote:-= original quote snipped =-
That's why we have Acie backing him up and hopefully he will be able to take the starting job sometime next season.

The Hawks are never going to get the 6th pick for Marvin/Bibby w/o taking a bad contract back. Randolph(along with his obvious deficiencies) is a bad teammate and also plays a position where we don't need help at. Curry(who also has flaws but plays a position of need) is likely the best the Hawks can get if they really want the 6th pick. If New York is really talking about trading Randolph/6 for Reggie Evans/16 then we really should be offering Marvin/Bibby for Curry/6/filler. You pray that Curry goes back to playing like he did in Chicago(where he was a below average defender but still gave an effort)and pray that you get a franchise player with the 6th pick.
I agree with you here except for one thing. Randolph is more of a Center than Curry.
Curry scores with his back to the basket. Randolph also has one of the best post games in the league, plus he can hit the jumper. AND he can rebound. And he is a better defender of opposing Centers (of course that is like saying cat piss smells worse than cat dung...neither one of them exactly smells like roses).
I also disagree that he gave effort on defense in Chicago. And if that was effort, dear lord I hope he never decides to not try.

Bibby isn't much of a point guard in the half court but he does some things well, he is much better than our other guys (including Joe) at bringing the ball up against pressure and he doesn't overdribble in the half court, he looks for a quick play and if it isn't there he passes the ball off and waits for a shot to come to him, unfortunately he missed more than we'd hope... Bibby isn't a great full court pg but he's good enough, there is a reason our pace quickened so much when he came.

Rip..three things.
1. I don't think you could play Randolph at center at all(w/o having the worst defense in the league). He is probably the least athletic PF in the league(I still have yet to see him dunk a ball and he's 6'9) and is already horrible defender at the 4...playing him at the 5 would be even more (Please Use More Appropriate Word). Horford, who is not even a center or a natural scorer, had some of his best games against Randolph this year because Randolph is glued to the floor which makes him extremely easy to shoot over. The Hawks have no room for another PF unless that PF is elite.
2. Randolph may have a better post game than Curry but it doesn't translate into effectiveness. Randolph's scoring effiency is beyond awful(worse than Crawford's for example). His primary value on offense is that he can draw a double team but he(Curry also)does a horrible job of passing out once the other team brings the double. Curry actually scores at a very efficient rate unlike Randolph. He just sucks at every other aspects besides scoring. Curry plays a more premium position(center)and isn't paid as much so that makes him more valuable. Curry is also a good guy off the court while Randolph punches teammates in the face and throws water on his teammates during timeouts.
3. Curry has NEVER been a good defender or rebounder, but I watched him in Chicago under Skiles/Cartwright and he wasn't nearly as bad defensively. The Bulls won 47 games with Curry as the starting center and were ranked 1st in fg% defense. Obviously Curry wasn't the reason their defense was so good but he gave enough of an effort as to where he wasn't a complete liability like he is under Isiah. Look at Curry's foul rate and block rate throughout his career....that alone tells you it's very obvious that he just stopped contesting shots under Isiah which is the reason the Knicks opposing defense was like a layup line. The Curry from 2005 isn't worth $10 million a year but he is a nice asset to have on your team. Curry/Horford/Smith is very similar to Curry/Davis/Chandler IMO. I believe that's the Curry we would be getting if he came to the Hawks.
