I really like Jamont. he cna handle the ball or take over a game and become a true scorer who can penetrate or hit the outside shot.

Shawn James should be on the phone now.
we need a defender off the bench that has good hands and can finsih around the basket. he fits the bill completely. He is a freakish shotblocker but isn't as raw as Solo.

i think it should be either jamont gordan chris loften or i know some people are gonna think this is stupid but sundiata gaines. I mean he a good point he could be the 3rd string point and if we get rid of bibby he can try to challenge acie for the starting job. Maybe im just a crazy UGA fan who knows.

Re: Players to invite to camp
I like Gaines, but I don't see him making it on the NBA level. The more I think about it I am really thinking Jamont Gordon is a good investment. He probably won't contribute this year but after a year in the D league to get more seasoning could be a nice piece for the team.
Rod Benson would be an excellent idea. He's a good rebounder and isn't just a raw development guy. He's a guy I can see giving 10 high energy minutes a night of the bench at PF. The only thing is that I still think we need a guy with a little beef on him for match up purposes.

Dime weighs in

Pretty good praise for Jamont Gordon. If the only negative is should have stayed another year, I say sign fast and develop. We could have a big hole to fill after next season at PG and a year of pro coaching should make him better than a rookie next year.

Sundiata would be a good player to invite to the summer league and even send to the d-league but I don't see him making our roster.

Re: Players to invite to camp
Well we probably know 10 of the players on the team(8 rotation players +Speedy/Solo). That gives us 5 open roster spots. It's unlikely that you are going to get a good vet for the league minimum so I'd rather use it on some young guys who still have upside.I would like to add Gerald Green and O'Bryant with 2 of those. I also would like to bring Mario back along with an undrafted free agent(particularly Jamont Gordon). The good thing is that we should have the 1st crack at signing the undrafted free agents given that we have no caproom and alot of open roster spots(which I believe Sund hinted at after the draft).
Bibby/Law/Gordon
Joe/Green/West
Marvin/Chil
Smith/Solo
Horford/Zaza/POB

I don't think the Hawks are necessarily looking for "good" vets. Sund's description went something along the line of "hard-working," which doesn't necessarily mean good.
The Hawks are already developing Law at PG, and Jones/Horford in the post, so there's no huge need for youth there. They will also want a proven shooter.
Depending on exactly how much $ is left over, I expect three spots to be filled by "old guys" who are unrestricted FA's - 3rd string PG (Darrell Armstrong? Kevin Ollie?), shooter (Mo Evans? Juan Dixon?), and veteran big (Melvin Ely? Malik Allen?). If there is money left over for a 4th player, I hope they either re-sign Jeremy Richardson or bring in a young project big with bulk.

Re: Players to invite to camp
There is not a need for youth but there is a big need in overall talent and a better bench in general. Signing players like Kevin Ollie and Melvin Ely to sit on the end of the bench is pointless because you know they are going to give you nothing. I'd rather sign someone like Green or O'Bryant(both only 22) and hope they they show something like Brandon Bass or Kelena Azuibuke did for their teams. A Lo Wright type signing does nothing for me but confirm that Sund is the wrong GM for this team because of his boring and conservative approach.
