LMAO. "You idiot"? Oh, so you're throwing insults at me?

Teams usually get better in the offseason is right. However, this team is not going anywhere if we don't resign Smith. Learn to use your head before you act, kid.

Also, our management is ranked one of the lowest, if not the lowest, in the league. Not only did they hire a pretty bad coach in Woodson (considering the other options), they've also let Childress just walk out the door. In the future, players will see how we treat our players like the way we're treating Smith now in contact negotiations and not want to play in Atlanta.

Lets just assume that they bring Back smith (even if its on the 1 year QO). They have bibby for a whole season, but since he has declined 3 years in a row I don't know that its realistic to expect him to suddenly change it around and go back to being the player he was 3 years ago. Then they lost Childress and replaced him with Evans. The rest of the east has improved while the Hawks are worse than they were last season. I'd say the over/under for them is 39 wins at this point.

You guys need to remember this is the most shallow team in the league. At this point Evans is the only bench player worth anything on the roster. (and he is a big downgrade from Childress who played 30 minutes a game) An injury to any of the starters (except marvin I suppose) would be pretty devastating.

Agree with the analysis for the most part, I do think the team was better with Bibby but it wasn't reflected in the numbers because we had to hit out stride.

I think the quality of the bench largely depends on Zaza Pachulia, was the change from borderline starter to abjectly terrible basketball player something permenant or was it a one year blip? If he can get back to the form he'd had the previous two years here, he'd be an above average bench big and really help our team.

I agree with that COB- Zaza just cratered last season. And he is getting older (no one believes his listed age) but that decline came out of absolutely no where. Zaza from 2 seasons ago would be a big boost for the team.

And I will also say that Speedy could be a really big help for the team as well. Having a top defensive PG would be a great change of pace in many games. But the problem is that defense is where a massive knee injury is likely to have the biggest effect so we just don't know what to expect.

Just subtract 5 (the Woodson factor) from the number you think the Hawks could win and you'll get the answer.

I'd say they win 45 with another coach with Josh Smith back, so that means 40 with Woodson.

With or without Josh Smith, I don't think we make the playoffs. The EC has gotten so much better and we have done virtually nothing.

45 wins....like the optimism.

30 something with the team last year....no chills and possilbly no smith we arent going to be better.

30-35 without Smith

40 with smith.

Please don't refer to Craig Claxton to his former nickname until he plays a regular season NBA game

I agree with everything except Evans being a "big downgrade" from Childress. Likely a downgrade, but he gives us better defense and outside shooting. Only thing is you can't count on him to give you as many minutes. That could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on if someone steps up.

Why not? He played 23 mins for the Magic last season... could be up to 27 mins for the Hawks this season. He or JJ probably will have to slide to SF for parts of the game.

edit: re-read the quote and it make some sense now since Childress play starter minutes last season... for sure I thought i've read "you can't count on him to give you any minutes".

Return to Atlanta Hawks
