There was a weird one line blurb on Hoopsworld rumors that the Hawks were trying to move Solomon Jones to open up a spot to sign another guaranteed contract going into training camp.
http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=9814
This makes little sense to me as I thought Solomon Jones's deal wasn't guaranteed this year (or did they guarantee it by some earlier action). It does lead me to a couple of questions, like how many contracts are on the books right now? Who is it that are still considering as an addition?
Anyone have thoughts on those 2 questions?

Re: Roster spots, Solomon
I as well didn't think Solo had a guarantee going into camp. Do they just not want to release him?
Personally, while he may be good for a couple of minutes early on. his strength is continuing to be a question. I am not too concerned about his missing SL because not a lot is taken away from there other than whether someone is competitive enough to be invited to training camp.
It makes you think Sund is looking at other options, and I wouldn't be opposed to it. Hoopshype has Solo's contract numbers for 08-09 apprearing, so maybe he does have a guarantee?
I counted 12 contracts including Solo, and it probably matters to include the Chills' numbers at least for this offseason. That would be 13 before Gardner, Richardson, West and Hunter.
I think other than a rumored Earl Barron, that this is what we are going into training camp with.
Why is Salim still getting consideration on hoopshype? Are they the only ones not aware of his status here?
Hoopshype can go ahead and post the Evans/Murray numbers as well. I haven't heard what they will add to the cap? Evans signed for 3/7.5M, but haven't found anything on Flip.

The new contract terms often aren't publicly announced in detail which makes it difficult for a site to be accurate quickly. No clue on Salim.
If the Solomon rumor is true, it would probably mean that he is guaranteed at least partially and that perhaps his refusal to play summer league really didn't sit well with the team. I still really can't figure out how many players are actually under contract or might be a target for the team at this time.

Evans' got three years at $2.5M per season (flat scale). It appears the 3rd season is a player option.
Murray got a one-year, $1.5M deal.
