I have seen him twice now this year and I just think he doesn't bring much to his team. He doesn't seem to have the will to mix it up down low.
I see him as a Nowitski type, staying outside of the paint avoiding the contact. I'm not saying he is Nowitski in talent.
What I saw from Andersen doesn't make me want to get him to come over here for the MLE.

I would want him over here at about $3 million per which I believe is what Marc Gasol is getting. Nothing more than that. If there was a time to bring him over it was this offseason.

Re: Anyone still clamoring for David Andersen?
He looked good in the Euroleague Final Four. He hasn't looked very impressive on the Australia Olympic Team.
I still think he provides a skill set that the team really doesn't have and that's shooting range and touch from backup PF. That was never really at the top of my shopping list. He's soft on the board and not much of a defensive presence. Also the more I think about it he doesn't really fit with the rest of the personnel. I think he would have fit better when Childress was on the team because of Woodson tendency to use sets that had Childress down low and the PF spot away from the basket.
But I agree with you, the more I think about it, there are better ways to invest MLE to improve the team.

I was going to post a similar thread. He just looks like your typical big man that is too soft to play in the NBA. He's not strong enough, far too timind, and dissapears from games for long stretches of time. He's a wimp, no wonder he doesn't want to come over here and play against an NBA center. At least Zaza is tough.

he looks like a role player which is what we need. don't get me wrong, anyone that has to go up against chris bosh and dwight howard at times is going to struggle, but i saw him get some hustle plays and cut the lanes well. he just didn't finish at the rim. you can see the talent there. but anyone who thought he was going to be an all-star were fooling themselves. he would be a good piece to the team.

Lunar, to me, Andersen looks like a guy who decides to play when there is nothing on the line. He makes plays that don't impact a game. He looked very soft against the USA and while he may fit well in the Euro league, I just don't see him addimg much here.
What I was hoping to see was someone who played well with Bogut and showed a good inside outside combination. I never saw him around the rim on the defensive end. While he may be better than he showed, he didn't present you with a lasting impression on what could have been.

Should we lose Solo, I would trade Solo and rights to Andersen for a future 1st...
After all, the Knicks managed to get Ewing (2nd) for the rights to Frederic Weis, drafted 10-12or was it 20 years ago!

solo and andersen would barely get a second much less a first. and ewing jr. was a salary dump. there's no need to bring over andersen unless we are close to a championship. right now he would just be more money tied up. maybe we bring him over if zaza leaves.

Re: Anyone still clamoring for David Andersen?
I think peoples interest in Andersen is more because the Hawks are that thin up front. Its Horford, Pachulia, Jones, and Morris. Beyond Al, thats not remotely good. Sure teams will use guys like Marvin Williams as a 4 now, but the Hawks need more depth...and David would've been an easy way to do it.

^^^ I agree. But DA was far too expensive for a guy that was only going to improve our depth.
