i'm not saying this trade should or should not happen, i'm just curious about other people's opinion

if you where the GM and you got the phone call from Denver..... would you give the green light or red light on such a trade?

On the court, it's actually a draw. While Carmelo is a better and more consistent scorer, Joe is a better facilitator of the offense and stronger wing defender.

Thie biggest differences are the intangibles. Carmelo has proven to be fairly immature, inconsistent and, to be honest, a little spoiled. His DUI arrest and griping about management being proof of that. JJ, though he may not be the leader that the locker room needs, is a hard working solid citizen.

Injury history is also worth noting. JJ rarely missing significant time.

So no. But, it's close.

Now, what about Smoove for carmelo????? Now that's a tough one?

I would never trade Melo for JJ... That would be a step back for our franchise. We have built the last 3 year after JJ.

Did someone really say that Melo for Smoove is a tough decision... that would be the worst trade in history. They play different positions... Melo doesn't play defense... we would be like the enver Nuggets... no D.

I'd definetely go with JJ, and this is from someone who isn't the biggest fan of JJ. Melo is an unbelievably overrated player who doesn't help his team win like he should. As someone said in that thread, Melo is a better scorer, but JJ is far better in other areas such as defense and distributing.

LOL.. that was cool... the enver Nuggets. I love JJ's game, so I wouldn't do this trade. I think Carmelo is another guy who could be great if he had the drive and the mind, but guess what, he just doesn't, so I stick with a more effective JJ.

In regards to Carmelo for Josh Smith..........Let's not get carried away, man.

Their numbers are very similar. With Smoove averaging 2 blocks more and Melo averaging 8 points more. Melo averaged 20ppg and 10rpg in the playoffs against LAL. Melo has had more team success and more individual success than Josh.

Josh can't carry a team. Period. He's not that kind of player. Melo is a top 20 player in this league. An allstar. A main attraction. A franchise player.

EVERY other place you go, you'll see Melo rated WAAAAYYYY higher than Smoove. It's not nearly as ludicrous as u might think.

I think that Smith probably has higher trade value (when he can be traded) than Joe right now. Smith just got signed to a 5 year contract that was a total of $12m less than Joe's 5 year deal when he signed it. Joe's contract only has 2 more years and then you have to decide whether to give him an even bigger deal. Smith is also 5 years younger than Joe.

On who has "carried" a team and to where, I love both Joe and Josh but as of now they can both only claim to be the offensive and defensive anchors respectively of a 37 win team so we aren't talking about Tim Duncan with either of those guys.
