parson like myself, understands capitalism, just like finding the value on a house, you just look at what the surrounding homes sold for. i stated that Zaza could get offers in the 5-7M range, because if you look at the market, that is the going price for a half-decent 7 footer is.
what a player is worth is a misnomer, because all you need is one team to make that offer, and the Hawks will have to decide to match or not match. is Jerome James worth 6M? who knows, but that is what one team offered him, and that is all it took.... one team.
Zaza puts up decent number when he is given minutes, but the biggest thing Zaza has going for him, is that he is only 24yrs. so giving 6M to quality back up, who is a decent starter, who is that young is a bargin and low risk for a lot of teams.

Re: Zaza's Future?
If Za can get back to what he was before last season, he could possibly earn a couple years at what he makes now for a team that has good team defense but needs a big who can score and draw fouls off the bench. It is unlikely he becomes a starter anywhere because he doesn't do so well on D and he's pretty inefficient on offense.

I'm not a fan of Zaza on the team, but this is his contract year. Hopefully he'll get it going and provide minimal head scratching moments.

You don't want Eddy (DuckworthJr) Curry on the Hawks in fact having a choice between trading Zaza for Curry or over paying Zaza at 4-6 million is an easy choice to go with Zaza. All Curry has had going for himself was a talent for scoring, size and youth. As he keeps eating and aging his talent is clearly slipping and his size has become a negative.

as long as Zaza keeps playing like that, he will get paid

I can't see Zaza getting a raise from anyone. However given some of the ridiculous moves i have seen from GMs over the past few years nothing would surprise me.

if Zaza keeps playing like that, he will have no probleming getting 6M offers. if i was the GM for a young rebuilding team, like MIN, MEM, or OKC, giving Zaza an offer would be a no brainer.

Poor Zaza. He's about to be "Marvinized." Some posters here have declared he's worthless and they could never admit that they aren't the experts they feel they are. Sooooo, from now on, we won't hear from 'em unless Zaza flops a game.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

Re: Zaza's Future?
last night i had a dream that zaza was running the floor like a pg and dunking all over people. but then again it was only a dream.
but seriously, zaza is worth money if he shows it this season. I mean, he was really bad most of last year until the playoffs. but i think he has it in him, he just needs to do it. its too early to say anything yet. I have faith that he wont be completely worthless this year. I think his confidence was a little messed with when Al came in and took his spot. His lack of minutes and all drained his confiudence and he was frustrated. He even said he was upset with his minutes (sorry I dont have the link). Of course, he didnt deserve the minutes last year, but overall as a player he is worth keeping around, if he can keep his confidence. IIt wasnt a skills thing, but a mental thing. I think hes got his swagger back.

Re: Zaza's Future?
It is funny how some people want to throw a party when Zaza has a game where he doesn't play like ass. The bottom line is that the market isn't that strong for centers who shoot 45%, struggle on defense and on the defensive glass.
The only reason he gets time with the Hawks is because our front line is so thin. On most teams he wouldn't see the court.
