Speedy...

I mean WTF!!!

This guy was playing in the preseason and supposed to have finally been ready to return to the court...Then in typical Speedy fashion, just before the season starts, he has a hamstring injury...

Ok, I get that (BS or not) but why haven't we heard anything since then? That was almost 2 months or so ago and you mean to tell me that this b!+[ h aint even practicing with the team? Nothing? Whether you're hurt or not, fans want to see effort and know that the guy is doing everything he can to get out the or help the team some kinda way...

I could imagine what it's like to want to play so bad and you're body not let you...I can sympathize with that and he had an article about him saying that and hoe his body keeps letting him down...I, myself (27), have been fighting tendinitis (jumper's knee) for the past 3-4 months and it really limits what you can do on the court and I hate it and know I can't play like I can...It's finally easing up for me, so I know that once it's 100% that I'm going to be giving h3ll again to anyone in front of me on both ends of the court...

But this BS with Speedy is not adding up...Look at Grant Hill, he had so many setbacks and tried so many times only to finally prevail and has played 3-4 relatively healthy seasons now...Sure he's not, the triple-double threat he was back in the day but he does still have a big % of the talent he used to have...I don't see the heart in Speedy and it's not fair that we have to pay this guy (and others like that) to sit there like that when guys are out here fighting their hearts for a chance to play...

He hinted in an interview this summer that this is his last shot. I'm thinking he'll retire at year's end if his issues continue.

If not, I'm sure the Hawks will look at packaging him with Childress in a S&T to get someone they can use.

Who is this Speedy character? Is he related to Craig Claxton?

Seriously as long as he has been out he should have to forfeit his nickname.

That would suck after he retired after this year. His expiring is going to be helpful because there are going to be alot of teams who are going to do w/e they can to unload salary for the 2010 free agency class.

we also need to unload his salary. i think we are forgetting that joe johnson is one of those free agents that offseason.

I don't see how we can judge Speedy's heart or desire. If your body won't let you play, then you can't get out there no matter what you try.

Remember that Speedy played through this serious knee injury originally when the Hawks' trainers said there was nothing wrong with him. It was only after getting a second opinion that we realized how serious the injury was.

Just because there aren't reports in the media about him doesn't mean he isn't working hard. His knees just won't allow him to get out there and go full speed.
