Great win tonight. Al was huge tonight and really picked up the slack for Joe.

To defend Paxson just a little, the Ben Wallace signing was the owner's call not his. Now trading down from #2 where he could have had Aldridge to select Tyrus Thomas and following that pick with Noah when they needed offense inside and could have taken Spencer Hawes are completely on him.
As for the game thread, I was watching every minute. Just didn't bring up a browser. Excellent game by Al Horford. Good shooting by Mike Bibby and Mo Evans. Little concerned with the lack of minutes for Solomon. Now that we are getting into back-to-back games I would hope that the bench gets more run when we can match up well (like against the weak Bulls front line).

We were without Smith and Joe had his worst game of the season. But we still controlled this game start to finish. I'm very impressed with this team right now.
And I know a lot of people hate using +/- with Law. But -17 in 8:23? That's ridiculous. He really needs to get it together, or I think we should look for another PG to add to the roster.

Re: Atlanta @ Chicago Nov 11th Game 6
The Hawks finally won a game while I was in attendance. There were some things to worry about but it still fills great to be 6-0. The Bulls had a ton of offensive rebounds(alot of them with Marvin at the 4)....Law looked awful. Woodson has given him a chance to get comfortable in his role and he's still playing scared. I also don't understand how we left Nocioni open so many times. They don't have many shooters so it seems like you would make that he's the 1 guy you wouldn't leave. We were trapping Gordon and Rose but we doubled off the wrong player.
On the other hand Horford beasted. This is exactly what we needed from both our starting big men with Josh out. You really don't get to see how well he runs the floor on TV. Obviously he's not going to play great like this every night but I would prefer him to get over 10 shots a game with Smith out. Joe's shot was off but it seemed like every big 3 we had started in the hands of Joe Johnson. This wasn't a 4th quarter comeback but the way the Hawks responded when the Hawks cut it to 2 was amazing and something last years team wouldn't have done. The Hawks already have a third of all their road wins from last year 2 weeks into the season. I really can't wait until the Boston game tomorrow.

Yeah. I've said for a while that the Hawks and Bulls really set their teams back about 4-5 years during that off-season. Both had top 5 picks with a ton of capspace and have literally walked out of it with nothing. Tyrus Thomas is basically what Jay Bilas feared Josh Smith would become. His BBIQ and skillset are both still awful and on top of that he doesn't even run the floor. Those Stromile Swift comparisons were right on the money.

i'm not a big Bibby fan, but it does look like some of the players (like Horford) are stepping up and helping Bibby out on defence. and his shot was working tonight.

Someone needs to send Woody a memo that Marvin isn't a 4. That small lineup in the 4th quarter nearly cost them the game.
It is kind of funny that JJ and Flip have been carrying the offense so far this season and we score 113 with those two going 5-21.

Re: Atlanta @ Chicago Nov 11th Game 6
Horford was absolutely bananas! He made it on the front page of NBA.com (after Kobe and Lebron of course). The big difference I saw from him on offense was that he was constantly running the floor after a defensive rebound he's streaking down the floor past everyone. I don't know how many fast break points we had but the majority of them had to be Al's...I think that was the major difference in the game. If Horford can improve his low post moves, he'll be tough to contain.
Joe had a terrible night, he took terrible shots and seemed like he tried to force it too much. But that just goes to show how much our team has changed. Last season if Joe scored less than 20 there was a very slim chance that we would come away with the win, let alone on the road. The veteran presence of Bibby, Evans, and Flip and the overall maturation of this team have paid huge dividends. Joe actually has a supporting cast now.
On the other hand, Acie Law has been very disappointing. I'm trying to stick with the guy, but I cringe every time he comes in the game...it's like the offense comes to a standstill. The only thing he managed to do last night was get a personal foul, donuts in points and assists. What really frustrates me about him is he has the ability to get into the lane whenever he wants to, I only saw him try to do that once last night when he kicked the ball out to Solo for a missed jumper. He needs to take some notes from Rose and learn how to become fearless. If he penetrates and gets stopped just pass it back out to the wing, we have guys who can hit threes now.

that's only a +4 production from rose
rose wasn't going to beat us
the rest of the bulls couldn't if they tried (which they did).
Drew Gooden, Kirk Hinrich (both starters) and Larry Hughes were all out this game.
and Tyrus and Gordon having a couple of bad games.
not saying wwe would have won with them, but seriously, chill out
