So much for all those people who told me that the home team always gets the calls.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

If anyone doubted the importance of Josh Smith those doubts should be erased by now.

I didn't listen to the game on the radio, but by looking at the box scores, it appears that it just came down to who shot the highest percentage. We made our shots, but New Jersey was better, and it looks as if no one stepped up on offense to slow the game down.

We needed to win at home. Now we go on the road for one game against Indiana who have the size advantage. Time for this team to get some much needed rest.

We looked so tired that we didn't care. It's not just 4 games in 5 nights, it's the minutes our guys are logging.

And poor Joe, he actually thinks he's helping the offense when he goes 1-on-5 and leaves the others standing around. He works so hard but we really need an offensive scheme.

Well, they had energy; we had little. What we had I think we used up in the 1st qtr. The rest of the game, we seemed to be waiting for Devin Harris to get his next "and one" on us. It was his world tonight and everyone else was just a visitor.

For me, the game ended in the middle of the 3rd and, after that, the players seemed to be waiting for the finish. They shot so much better because we were dragging.

By the way, I'd almost kill to have Lopez and Anderson on our bench.

No one has stepped up to help Joe out, im sure thats why he has shouldered the load. Marvin needs to be involved more in the offense, and Al has taken very few good shots this season. This is the Atlanta Hawks I expected to see at the beginning of the season!!

dang, what happened? they shot almost 67% from the 3 and 55% from the field. Our defense absolutly sucked tonight. I cant watch the games but was Horford getting alot of touches? because he was killing them in Chicago, i know his foul trouble limited him in Boston, but what about this game and the last one in NJ? I think Horford has it in him but they really need to get him the ball. and looks like I spoke too soon about Bibby, hes back to his streaky ways. hopefully we can regroup well and play better against Indy. At least my man Anthony Morrow played like a stud today 37 pts and 11 rebounds. Pretty good for a guy who went undrafted.

We scored 107 in spite of a huge cold spell in the 1st half (with Joe mostly on the bench). We shot 46%, 37% from 3. I don't see how the offense is the problem now.

The problem is that we have given up 234 points in the last two games.

Agreed. They should give Marvin some looks instead of just having Flip Murray or Joe Johnson take turns playing 1on5.

And im a lil disapointed with horford this year. He had one good game and has pretty much been pretty horrible other than that.

Our offense should never be an issue. The only reason we were high in all those power rankings and suddenly though of as a contender was bc of our defense which has not showed up the past few games. You tell me but I dont think our defensive woes without Josh SMith can be corrected until hes back. What do yall think? This goes a little deeper than SMith I think.!! THoughts?

It wasn't just defense. We were toast. We scored when the game was over and the Nets didn't care about defense. Plus, the refs gave us a great # of FTs from the middle of the 4th on, after Joe and Woodson's technicals.

Whenever we needed to score, we had no inside game to speak of. Our offense (until the benches cleared) was Joe working like a madman against the entire Nets' defense.

I'm not complaining about Joe's effectiveness; I'm saying we had no offensive scheme. Near the end, I watched Flip work a side screen with Solomon and thought, "Man! We CAN work more than one man at a time."

I'm saying our offense is "Well, I'm finished with the ball. YOU take it now and try something."

Before Smoove went out, Woodson proved he can teach defense. He'd better learn to teach offense.

Who is going to score inside? Horford? Watching him play with his back to the basket reminds me of Dikembe and that definitely isn't a good thing. Our best inside scorer right now is JJ by far.

Until Horford decides to play a face up game consistently he isn't going to score much.

I have busted Woody's chops plenty but you can't get blood from a stone.

When you have a poor defensive PG like Bibby then you need a shotblocker out there to help out. Horford just isn't the shotblocking threat to compensate.

Not gonna get too worked up over these losses. The 3 point defense in both the Nets games was terrible but it was a little bit fluky before that, good shooters (Ray Ray, House, Parker, Jose) were missing open jumpers in some of our games, we were due for some Js to fall against us.

Honestly, if anyone still doubts Josh Smith's defensive impact, they need their head examined. He makes literally everyone on the team look better on D - from Horford down to Bibby.

I understand why Woody was playing small, gotta put your best players out on the floor and when a team is drained, its easier to try and outscore the other team and just hope your shots are falling. Still though, I can't help but question why we didn't play Solomon Jones for a few more minutes. He was more effective out there than Al and Marv in this game and the away-Nets game.
