I wonder what it would take to get this guy from lac? Maybe the rights to j chills and a 2009 second round pick. Good young Center to develop.

This is a recording.

We should probably create a thread with "We can't trade Childress' rights" in the title and sticky it.

His cap hold does count against the cap as long as the Hawks hold his rights. I forget the exact number of his cap hold but i think it is around $10 million.

Regardless, teams rarely trade young bigs with upside on minimum contracts...

Very raw. Seems like a nice kid in interviews. I hope you realize that he wouldn't get on the court here. Probably not for years. He needs a couple years of coaching and some d-league run before he gets to Randolph Morris level of project.

i'm a fan, but i will admit that it will take a few years for this guy to develop, probably a few more years than it took Tyson Chandler to develop, and if he is not coached right and get enough playing time like Tyson got early in his career, it will be a tough up hill battle for DeAndre.

He would be a good young center to have, but really, I don't think their interested right now. Maybe someone guys after him, but I'm thinking it's probably not going to be the Hawks.

In a few years DeAndre Jordan will be Solomon Jones. And...well...we have Solomon Jones now. Soooo....why trade for rookie Solomon Jones?

DeAndre has an NBA Center body and super athleticism for his size - on par with Dwight Howard according to scouts. Unfortunately the track record for freakishly athletic 7-footers who never produced at any level is very weak... Saer Sene and Cheik Samb spring to mind here... now that you mention it, maybe Sund does want to go after the kid...

^^^ Yeah I was going to say that, too. A 7-footer with long arms and no bball skills sounds like Sund's type of guy. Just ask Saer Sene, Robert Swift, and Johan Petro about that one.

DeAndre Jordan really has no right to wear an NBA jersey right now, he is simply not good. It's beyond not having basketball skills.... he doesn't have basketball instincts.

No matter how hard he works, I'd have a tough time seeing him ever be more than a backup center now matter how amazing his athleticism is.
