Talent wise? Maybe.

But because Bosh is an unrestricted FA in a year and a half...I'd say no.

That was going to be my response mrh. I'm not a Braves fan but that would be sort of like the Mark Teixeira trade. You shouldn't be going after someone if the other team is shopping him because they doubt they can re-sign him when he's an unrestricted free agent-unless they are offering him for 50 cents on the dollar.

I wouldn't do it because that would leave the Hawks with Zaza Pachulia and Bosh in the starting frontcourt which would challenge for worst defensive team in the NBA. Take out Horford and the pick and throw in Zaza.

I would not do it for the reason said by mrhonline. But if we were in a magical world, and Bosh did not have an expiring contract, I think I would do it with the hopes of one of our first round draft picks going for Hasheem Thabeet from UConn. Bosh and Thabeet on the same team would be amazing.

You don't trade your entire starting front court for one front court player. Bosh is good, but he doesn't do the things both of those players do. You would have to pair him with someone else, simple as that.

I would trade either one of them and picks or other guys for him, but not both guys. And I don't care if he was locked into a 5 year contract. That would make the team worse.

Bosh is a great player, but to trade Horford and Smoove for him??? hell no! I would trade Smoove and a filler for Bosh. Smoove and one of these Acie/Zaza/Solo/Morris/.

maybe a pick here or there

I wouldn't do it, Moon will be out of the league soon. Marvin is becoming a great player for us, he knows his role and he is playing it to the perfection on both ends. Smoove does too much for our defense to give him away, we haven't allowed 100 points this season with him in the lineup.

agree..... Bosh is an offensive force, and Smoove is a defensive force.

just hard to see, cause everybody likes to see 20ppg... both impact on the game are close to equal.... we all see how this team looks when Smoove is not in the line up.

Dallas scored 100 when Smith was playing. That's it.

When Smith was out 4 teams scored at least 110. The Hawks are currently 11th in defensive efficiency in spite of how bad the defense was when Smith was out.

I think Bosh is a great player and a Bosh, JJ combo would be very tough. I think you could easily build a title contender around those two. If i got Bosh's word that he would sign a max extension this summer (assuming the owners would pay big deals to JJ and Bosh) then i would probably do it.

Short term it would obviously kill the defense but long term i think it would be easy to fit guys around these two.

In a way, I'm from the "If it ain't broke..." school of thought.

On the other hand, Bosh is in a pretty rare class of star/near-superstar. I'd like to know we could lock Bibby up, because I think he'd be pretty key as a point guard who doesn't need to handle the rock too much in the half-court. The other thing that I'd NEED to know, is that Bosh wouldn't leave, like the guys above said. The thing is, we'd be worse this season but we'd literally only be a peice away.

Bibby
Joe'
Marv
Bosh
?

If we could snag a Perkins/Diop style bruiser to put next to Bosh, I'd be fine with that but Bosh has more trouble with the big bigs than Al or Josh do.

Thabeet is unrealistic, he's looking like a top 5 pick and the dregs of the west are too bad to think that it would be possible.

Thinking on it i think this is the type of deal that could go down in the summer, with Bosh's extension being part of the deal. It is a given that he won't be staying in Toronto.

Getting him would make JJ the number 2 option on offense and give the Hawks the best inside/outside combo in the east.

Tempting, but no... Horford could do most of the things Bosh can in a few years and Josh is unreplaceable.... too much of a unique talent.

If we could work a package out where we got Bosh for Smith/Horford - then you have to do that trade. But only like some said above, if we got Bosh signed to an extension first. JJ and Bosh would make us a legit contender for the finals. The core we have now - while I love them, is not ever going to be a championship contending core. We're going to have to make some sort of blockbuster trade somewhere down the line to give JJ another superstar to team up with. No one outside of JJ has that sort of superstar potential on our roster. I was hoping Horford would grow into that type of player, but he's not showing any signs of it right now. He's solid, but he's not superstar. I think we have a better chance of trading for Amare during the summer, but Bosh is close to the same caliber...

I think Horford is such a unique talent that it'd take more than a deal like that. Now, if you combine J. Smith + anyone(not starting), that's a done deal.

Horford is still developing and i think hes got a lot more to show yet. Smith is all ready signed hes a great swingman bosh is going be a free agent in 2010 It wouldn't even be worth the chance considering that.
