Detroit fan here: Iverson or Bibby?

Just curious, who would you rather have at point guard: Allen Iverson or Mike Bibby?

Is this a trick question? Bibby is playing the best basketball he has played in years while Iverson is at a low point in his career.

Iverson is playing badly because of how they were using him in detroit. there is no coincidence they have gone on this winning streak with Rip Hamilton injured. Like I said when they made the trade, unless they are moving hamilton too, its a dumb trade.

that said, Bibby is a more consistant three point shooter. Both have decent playmaking abilities, and Bibby(!) is playing the better D this year as Allen just gambles for steals all the time. For our teams needs, Bibby is definately the better option.

Easily Bibby.

While Mike's having a very good year, I would still go with him even if he was having a less productive year, because I feel he's a better fit for the Atlanta Hawks. Now, if the ownership wants some help filling up the arena, or more national attention, I would say Iverson is the one that can do that.

Mike's also going to be cheaper to retain, so that's another reason why Atlanta needs to stick with him, and not sway towards a dramatic change at the point. Joe and Mike seem to have a good feel for one another and I like how they both do a good job at sharing the ball.

I rather have Bibby because he doesn't need the ball in his hands to score. He is playing of Joe. Joe creates for everybody so all Bibby has to do is shoot. AI needs the ball to score and he is better shooter of the dribble than spot up.

If AI and Joe were to be a successful combo than one of them has to do what Bibby already does. SO why DO it?

Interesting responses... Bibby is playing very good ball and even last year his impact was greater than his box score stats.

IMHO Iverson brings a dynamic to the court than only a few have in the history of the nba. His unique skill sets would enhance the Hawks better than Detroits club too. We have the most athletic club in the land. The attention the iverson demands would open up more opportunities for our athletes than bibby...

Looking at the stats these guys are on par with one another... All i can say after looking a the numbers is the most important thing is the hawks a winning with Bibby and are getting better and better. As long as we continue to improve there is no need to ever make that change.

I never liked A.I. game, but I just have the feeling the Hawks might look at him in case Bibby goes somewhere. I'd take our PG over him no doubt. Along with T-Mac, VC, and a few others, A.I. is very overrated. You want to disrupt any kind of chemistry on your team, get Allen Iverson.

Exactly. A.I. is such a unique player, he has to have the ball in his hands to do his thing. We saw what happened in Denver when he was paired with Melo, who also had to have the ball to get the job done. Meanwhile, our current PG in Bibby can play off the ball very well while the ball is in Joe's hands. The offense works much better that way.

That being said, A.I. is still the better player. I just think Bibby is a better fit for our team.
