I think Josh explained this well, but just to reiterate. Why trade bibby for cap-savings?
1. He's our starting PG, and Law isn't ready
2. He's already a large expiring contract
3. We are a playoff team right now

It's possible that Marvin is available though.

I was all for dealing for Andre Miller last season before the Hawks got Bibby- but I will fully admit that I never thought that BIbby could play this well. He had been in decline for 3 seasons and he has totally turned it around this season and his outside shooting has been absolutely invaluable.

Maybe. I think it's been Bibby-for-himself. He's trying to shoot himself into a good contract. And Joe's gone along for the ride. The 2 of 'em just jack up shots; forget about any kind of offense (not that Woodson's ever shown one).

I'm afraid we gained Bibby at the expense of our frontcourt.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.
