If Jonny Flynn is available when the Hawks come up in the draft they should take him as their PG of the future. His game is very similar to CP3 (obviously without the polish) But he could definitely be our point guard for years to come. If anyone watched the CUSE vs UCONN game last night you know what i am talking about.
Any thoughts?
Jonny Flynn

Re: Johnny Flynn
I actually think Flynn is a Flip Murray clone. His game is a lot like Flip's. More of a scorer from anywhere on the court than a distributor. He did have 10ast. last night but that was with 6 OT and he played the entire game.

I think the idea that you need a pass first point guard is a myth. 4 of the top 5 teams in the NBA have scoring point guards. Flip is also an extreme example because he is more of an undersized SG that we play at pg than a scoring point guard(like Bibby for example). Flip's assist to turnover ratio is around 1 which is probably the lowest of any one who gets minutes at point guard. Flip is also much taller which makes the comparison even worse IMO.
Flynn actually does have very good court vision(unlike Flip). He just tries to do too much which leads to alot of awful turnovers. I have heard interviews where he has said that he patterns his game after Paul, but Paul(as the thread starter said)was ready to lead a team from day one which is why he went 4th in the draft. It's not easy to find a good player where the Hawks will pick(let alone find some one as good as Paul), but I think you can find a decent pg in this draft if you know what you're doing. I believe Flynn would make where we pick because he is impossible to stay in front of and is actually a very good finisher when he does get to rim unlike most short point guards.
Maynor and Lawson are two other point guards that I also think the Hawks should consider drafting.

Flynn really impressed me last night. He has huge cojones. I also like Toney Douglas for FSU a lot, he's on right now against Ga. Tech.

How can you even begin to compare Flip Murray to Jonny Flynn? Flynn is 6'0 and lead the Big East in assists Flip is 6'3 and averages 1.7 assists a game. Not even comparable.
