The Hawks defense has been ridiculously good lately. The funny thing is that the only time the Hawks trailed doing into half time(I believe)was against the Pacers w/o Granger so it just confirms the fact that the Hawks obviously get up for the big games.

It's also funny to see that Miami lost. They got outscored 24-9 in the 4th after having several miracles occur to beat Chicago and Utah this past week. The odds are that Wade had to have an "off" game sooner or later.

I think the biggest stat is only 5 team turnovers. Zero for Joe even though he had the ball in his hands 90% of the time.

The hawks are a lot of fun to watch at home. On the road....not so much.

Another awesome defensive performance. Portland couldn't do anything.

Consider me impressed today. Your players don't look like they are capable of playing good D but they have definitely more than managed lately, namingly embarrassing the Blazers. If they can keep this up in the playoffs (though that is a big if), they could do pretty well.

Just got back home from the game. A few things about it.

1. JJ is amazing. I love when he drives to the left, it's almost imposible to stop him.
2. Smith had a good game, I was glad with what I saw. He looks back at the Hawks bench everytime he makes a dumb play or he gets scored on. Not sure if he's changing, but it's good to see he cares about what the coach staff has to say.
3. Horford had a good game even though he's got to get more involved. We should use and abuse P&R between him and Bibby. His low post game is very limited for us to just isolate him down there.
4. Mo Evans did a decent job on Roy.
5. Roy is good, maybe very good, but he's no better than JJ, yup, I'm not only talking about this game.
6. I think the Blazers are a bit overrated. They're talented no doubt, but they have to address a few things before people think they can contend.
GO HAWKS.

Incorrect. Roy is what Joe would be if he didn't go ice cold for 2 months at a time. They are pretty similiar when Joe is playing like he is now though.

I was only able to check the score from my phone throughout the game, so I didn't get it watch any of it, but it's nice to see that Woodson let the bench play. About time we beat Portland!

Dude - come on. Roy is clearly a better player than Joe Johnson. And he's like 5 years younger. And he's a leader. There's not ONE general manager that wouldn't trade Joe Johnson for Brandon Roy in a heartbeat.

Missed the game today because I was at the ACC championship, but it sounds like Joe and Josh had really good games. Nice. 4 in a row!!!

Missed the game as well because I too was at the ACC Championship. Almost through the dvr recording of it. I was wrong on the over, but I had no way of predicting such a low point total for Portland. Hope the guys don't have a let down on Tuesday considering it is 1 of only 2 games on the home stand I will be able to attend.

Yo High 5 I saw that guy on the Blazers thread saying Joe is garbage. Is he an idiot? Roy might be better but not by much. He is inconsistent but when hes beasting in the paint that opens everything up for him. Hes just a little sour from the whoopin we gave them HEHE :D

Joe Johnson is top 5 in the league when he plays inside out. When he drives hard few can stop him. He's excellent when he starts out driving then gives the defense a slighty difference look every time down floor.

It is hard to believe that the JJ we are seeing now is the same guy that shot 37% in January. I would like to know what has been going on with him.

Good to have the Hawks home and taking advantage of their home games. Winning is important and they are doing it against some very good teams. Can't afford any letdowns coming up against the Kings and Wolves.

Only assuming.......

The lack of chemistry he mentioned and possibly the issues with Josh Smith. Joe always seems to take things personal and it reflects on his game. The slightest issue and his game seems to dramatically drop.

The same thing that happens every year. Joe always starts to struggle around the New Year (I think he just gets worn out) and then gets his second wind for the stretch run. It's good to see him playing like an All Star again.
