Wanted to share that the Euroleague FinalFour (May 1-3) has the lineup set with a couple Hawks ties.
The teams there are:
CSKA Moscow (defending champ mainly Russian lineup with Trajan Langdon there for US flavor)
vs.
Panathinaikos (won 2 years ago mainly Greek roster with Drew Nicholas and Mike Batiste as the only US flavor)
Regal FC Barcelona (eliminated Tau Ceramica (Tiago Splitter) and features Hawks rumor David Andersen and Magic rumor Fran Vasquez among their roster)
vs.
Olympiacos (mercenary roster with most US players on it including Josh Childress, Lynn Greer (main scorer from Temple) and Jannero Pargo, but also includes players signed away from CSKA and Maccabi Tel Aviv)
If anyone is wondering Josh Childress is back from injury. The season there takes a long time, just without many total games. He missed 2 months and I think 5 games. I can't figure out what constitutes good numbers in Europe. It's a 40 minute game and averages are lower. Childress averaged 6.5 ppg 5.5 rpg against Real Madrid in the round of 8 while playing 25 mpg with 64% FG shooting. The numbers don't impress me considering what he's paid, but I guess as long as they win they'll consider it well spent. Jannero Pargo who was signed when Childress got injured in January is not exactly lighting it up. He's scored 38 pts in his 10 games and has seen his PT drop from 13 mpg to 8 mpg.
There is an expectation of violence given the teams in the contest in Berlin. A story about that is actually what lead me to put this together.
