Ray Allen was suspended for one game without pay for elbowing Cavaliers forward Anderson Varejao in the groin on Sunday. Allen will miss Tuesday's game against the Sixers. rotoworld.com
This suspension is rather pointless considering the regular season doesn't matter. I don't feel he needs to be suspended for a game during the playoffs, but let the suspension carry over to next season, and not for a pointless game like tonight. Ray would see limited minutes if he was eligible to play. Is the NBA just protecting Boston here?

Re: OT: Ray Allen Suspended
I don't think you can control the timing of serving to make it mean something more. If it is a 1 game suspension then it happens now. If throwing an elbow at opponents privates merits a longer suspension then he should get that handed down to him and he starts serving it immediately. If it was the last game of the season when it happened then you carry it over to next season or the playoffs, but as long as there is time available to serve it then it should be served now. The only reason the game is meaningless is that Boston has locked position already. Although one could argue that the 1st game of the season isn't that meaningful either. I don't think the NBA is protecting Boston in this case.
