If it is up to Bibby, he’ll return.
“It’s not my decision to make,” Bibby said. “I told them before, I love it here. … I definitely want to come back. I love the coaching staff, love the team, love the city.”
Count coach Mike Woodson as being in Bibby’s corner.
“I would love to have him back next year,” Woodson said. “Mike Bibby is a big part of what we did this season. He came over last year and we don’t make the playoffs without Mike. We don’t win 47 games this year and sew up the fourth spot and host the first round at Philips Arena without Mike. I would love to have Mike back.”

Quick question: If the Blazers offered him a 3 or 4 year deal starting at like 7-8M, do you think the Hawks would match?

Re: Bibby hopes to return to Hawks
In my heart of hearts, I hope the Hawks keep Bibby or get Iverson this summer.
It's time the Hawks make one or two pivotal moves that will put them over the hump into title contention. Now, true, Bibby and A.I. are both in their early 30s - Bibby is a couple years younger but Iverson is always more explosive and requires heavy DEF attention from opponents. Iverson is the perfect compliment to Joe because he is extremely quick to penetrate the paint, great passer, and I'm sure would love the opportunity to be the #1 scorer on a team again. Allowing Joe and J-Smoove to play off him with less pressure and a ton of openings.
We ALL know the benefits that Bibby brings to this team, along with his one major flaw (man-to-man DEF). So EITHER WAY, I feel great about picking one of these guys this summer to lead this team for the next 3-4 years, while we develop Law or a new drafted PG.
IVERSON = Better half court offense because of his penetration/one-on-one scoring (even with Woody coaching), more help defense from the perimeter, more open shots for Joe and Marvin, and more uptempo style off rebounds. Could he come to Atlanta (where actually has a house) for $8-10M/year or less?
BIBBY = Better pick-n-roll style basketball (but Woody can't coach that style well at all), continued chemistry/continuity, better shooting PG especially from 3pt, BUT less perimeter defense and DEF mismatches. Would he stay here in Atlanta for $7-8M/year or less?
That signing directly relates to the decisions that must be made about Childress' rights and/or resigning Marvin Williams?

You'd have to be more specific.
3 yrs, starting at $7M? Yes, they match that.
4 yrs, starting at $8M? No, they let him go.
In between? Not really sure.

Re: Bibby hopes to return to Hawks
Well that's a lateral move for the Hawks IMO... Better halfcourt offense should come from ball movement and player movement...Asking a 34 year old, who is on the decline, to run isolation offense is not something that is going take the Hawks to the next level, nor will it result in more open shots for the other perimeter threats...ACE_reppin_ATL wrote:

The Hawks don't need more scoring as much as they need more play making....

bibby is on the decline, thought that he would produce numbers from his last 2 seasons in sac, hopefully you guys can find a better PG. your team is legit and should be going far in the playoffs next year.

The Hawks should keep him too. He is cheap and he is under-rated good.
