Smoove MIGHT not be tradeable!!

Post#1 » by Hood President » Tue May 26, 2009 8:33 am

Im a fan of smith even though his antics gets annoying but I was on hawksquawk.net and sekou smith answered some fans questions. 1 was about the chances of us getting bosh with smith in the deal.

Q. On a scale of 1-10 in your opinion what is the Atlanta Hawks and in particular Rick Sund's interest in the following players. Chris Bosh (trade involving Josh Smith) Ron Artest ( FA) Allen Iverson ( FA )?

A. I can’t tell you what Rick Sund’s interest might be. It would be purely speculation and since he can’t discuss other team’s players … well, I’m sure you get the point. I’m guessing the Hawks’ interest in both Artest and Iverson is non-existent. Bosh is the wild card this summer, because I think lots of teams (the Hawks included) would be interested in discussing his availability. But Josh Smith as the centerpiece for the Hawks is a bit of an issue because he has a trade kicker in his contract, making him tougher to move than people might realize.

Also, sekou said we ARE NOT making a play for Amare.....NONE!

But anyway, what is in his contract? isnt his byc up this year. if he has any sort of say so whatsoever he isnt going up to toronto i can tell you that. lol

A trade bonus doesn't make him *that* much more difficult to trade. It mostly makes him a bit more expensive to the team that acquires him.

Personally, I don't think Sund even entertains the idea of a Smith trade until JJ signs an extension.

Pretty cool of Sekou to answer questions like that, if you want to read more:

Props to gsu for setting that up.

I never knew they were even thinking about trading Josh Smith. Wont happen. Marvin and Bibby are the only pieces we might move.
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

a trade kicker is pretty standard for offersheets. Its not a surprise that he has one.

I'm just happy to see another reason why he won't leave. I'd say he's easily the 2nd best player on the hawks. People talk about his numbers being down, but he did have that hurt ankle for much of the year, and he still improved his efficiency (while still shooting too many 3's). For example his PPG was 15.6 this year, while 17.2 last year, but he took 1.7 less shots per game.
