no one else huh. its good to see horford is better than Pau Gasol. ****, the hawks should compete next year for a rign then.
and the most obvious admission is JOSH SMITH. who is better defensively and offensively.
You add TWO names and my list is a joke? Gasol is a center. I know where ESPN lists him; I also know where he's played almost his entire career. Add in that I've watched Horford play him very tough in one-on-one matchups and Gasol is not a problem.
As for Smoove, his negatives are sometimes equal to his positives. Defensively, he blocks shots very, very well, but that's about it. His man-to-man is poor (not below average, but poor) and his defensive rebounding is a disgrace. Horford is much better defensively, except for the shot-blocking, where he improved this season to almost 1 and a half per game (1.42). Smoove fell this season to 1.61/game.
Offensively, Smoove sometimes kills us with foolish 3pters.
What's a joke is you piling on Horford for getting hurt this year. If we didn't have him to play center for us, we'd be cooked.

You are completely clueless if you think Smiths man D is poor. Smith was doing a good job guarding 4s before Horford even got here. In fact in the season before Horford was drafted only 2 power forwards that played at least two games against the Hawks averaged over 2 ppg over their season average against the Hawks. Those two were Dirk and Duncan. Most 4s scored below their average against the Hawks even though the Hawks team defense sucked.
When Horford has tried to guard high scoring 4s like Bosh, Boozer or Garnett he has gotten lit up.
Of course it goes without saying that Smith is far better than Horford on offense even with his poor jumpers and turnovers.
