Yi?

Post#1 » by betta1 » Thu Jun 4, 2009 3:35 am

Is Yi someone we should target in the offseason? NJ may be looking to deal him. I still think he can be a good player in the league. Would something like the Net's 1st rounder + Yi for Marvin + Law be a possibility? That would give us two picks in the top 20 and free us from deciding whether or not to re-sign Marvin.

Yi is damn near 7 feet... or might be 7 feet... he can't play SF... maybe PF... but definitely not SF.

My personal opinion the few times I've seen him is no. For a 7 footer, he plays soft and small. I don't see him poised for a big breakout and without that occurring he would be a major drop off from Marvin.

While I admit I was not sure if it was better to pick Horford or gamble on Yi before draft time, I am happy we took Horford, and don't see what Yi could bring here if we have to send one of the core players.
We have Smith who's between a PF and a bit of a SF, Horford between C and PF, Marvin a SF who can plays a bit of PF, if we have to trade one of this guys, it has to be for a different kind of player.

Yi is too weak for the NBA. He has been the worst finisher inside for 2 straight years now.

I wonder if we could possibly get Sean Williams though.

No disrespect, but when I see some trade ideas here I understand why BK has had a job in the league. He looks great compared to some around here lol.
