Don't know how truthful it is, but over at Hawk Squawk it's been posted that ESPN rumors said there's a proposed deal going down, pending an Amare physical

Amare/Lopez

for

Smith/Childress/rights to D. Anderson.

hmmmm don't know about this because of the Childress situation. But, lets say there's some truth to it, what do you guys think? Obviously Amare's health needs to be sorted out, but on a talent level? I'm finding it real hard to decide. You'd swap strong Defense for strong offense, but regardless, all-star talent.

The part I do like is getting Lopez. He's an upgrade coming off our bench as a backup 4/5 and could soften a loss of Zaza cheaply.

I can't decide if I'd like to see this or not.

It is a better offer as long as we don't have to give up anybody else. We can't trade too many assets because of amare and jj's situations in 2010. If we have to go into a season with teague/crawford/marvin/horford/lopez, we will be in trouble.

The players I am certain are off limits in any Amare deal is Horford and Teague. Rest of the roster is up in the air. We are still not sure what to do with Marv.

Joe Johnson would be the only one untouchable in an Amare trade because you'd want to pair the two up. The entire point of getting Amare would be to significantly improve our half court offense which looks horrible at times.

If we are looking to improve out half court offense, then why are we looking at Crawford as our PG? Shouldn't we get a true point to run the offense?

In terms of Amare, I would be hesitant to give anything up if he isn't signed to an extension. I'm not sure we can afford 2 max extensions, then turn around and give Horford a hefty chunk of change as well.

If you think the suns fans are already up and arms about the GSW trade that would net the Biedrins, B.Wright, Bellineli and Azu. ( THAT'S 3 LOTTO PICKS BTW ) Wait and see how they react to the rumored Hawks deal. that's for

Amare and his troubling medical history. ( this is from local papers here )

Stoudemire is four months removed from
surgery to repair a detached retina in his right eye. He is eight months removed from a partially torn right iris. He is 20 months removed from having arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. He is 44 months removed from having the dreaded microfracture surgery on his left knee.
If Stoudemire were a truck, his Carfax report would print out on red paper — in all caps.
Stoudemire says he plans to wear goggles on the court. He said the same thing after being poked in the eye last October, only to toss the goggles after two weeks because sweat would accumulate, blurring his vision.

The knees, however, represent the biggest, brightest red flags. Common sense would accept that the left knee, in particular, would inhibit any chance of Stoudemire being the explosive, dynamic athlete he was pre-surgery and over the long term. That's important insofar as the Warriors likely won't make any megadeal unless they have assurances of signing a five-year extension that would make Stoudemire their highest-paid player.

Microfracture surgery diminishes everyone who has it. It killed the careers of Jamal Mashburn, Terrell Brandon and, eventually, Penny Hardaway and Allan Houston. Chris Webber was never the same, neither was Antonio McDyess or Kenyon Martin. The jury is still out on Tracy McGrady.

The best recoveries were made by Jason Kidd, for whom age is a factor, and Stoudemire, for whom sheer size likely will become a factor.

Suns fan here..... Not sure if we are really trading partners but I have to comment on Amare. After his knee sugery, we were concerned with the explosiveness. For a few months after returning, it didn't look like he was the same Amare. However, in my opinion, the explosiveness soon returned and he was back as a top performer. I am not worried at all about the knees..... The eye, on the other hand, is unclear (pardon the pun). We will soon see as he is cleared to practice. I love Amare and after going back and forth, I hope we don't trade him. As I mentioned on the Golden State board, Amare is a centerpiece type player. The Hawks are a nice team and I wish we could trade teams with the Hawks.....However, I don't think you currently have the type of team that can win it all. I think Amare gets you closer......

why in the world would teague be untouchable. he was a mid 1st round draft pick. and a shoot first combo guard which the hawks suddenly have an abundance of
