I think either Murray is a mediocre passing PG who shoots more than he should or a decent passing SG that shoots more than he should. But the worst thing that ever happened to him was scoring all those points in seattle because he just isn't a good shooter.

The last 2 games before he got benched, we were waaay ahead. Amir got some burn but rarely touched the ball, wonder who all us Piston fans were pissed at because of that. Those 2 games as the clock was winding down and the possession should have been dribbled out someone launched a 3 a click before the buzzer. Wonder who that was? Someone is now collecting ass splinters.

We'll give you Murray for Speedy and throw in Hayes/Prince as filler and you guys can toss in Chill and Marvin to fill out the salary constraints.

i could dig it

Flip is decent as a starter but when he is coming off the bench he tries to jack up every shot to pad his stats.

...and I'm glad sund listened to the suggestion.

Speaking of Murray, I think we should resign him. Some people might say he is no longer necessary with Crawford. But I think he could still play a solid role off the bench, granted in fewer minutes. It would be nice to have a little depth this season. And I think he will still be cheap. I'm guessing a little over the league minimum.

Nah, Flip will only take away PT from Teague, and I'm not sure we can afford to go through another young PG not getting a chance to show what he can do. If Sund leaves the backcourt as is, it will force Woody to play Teague as the 4th guard. Crawford is going to get a ton of minutes, but I think Teague should be able to get 12-15 per game and show what he can do.

My thought is maybe we can find a S&T deal for Flip where he can get a good contract and we can get a piece that does work for us. Perhaps we can find a decent 4/5 backup. The problem is Flip reputation and whether he did enough to change that last season. Did he do enough to get a chance to play a more significant role somewhere? Regardless, we should be bringing him back.

It seems very unlikely at this point that we will have Flip back anymore. But I have to say.

Flip Murray was a revelation for the Hawks this year. Whichever teams gets him this season is getting a steal. Had we not stolen Crawford away from GS, I'd be campaigning HARD for Flip to return to the Hawks for the next 3 seasons.

He was a pro, and was so much more than advertised. Scored well, scored in the clutch, shot the 3 ball well, was so so so calm and steady no matter the game, passed well, played as a team player, played excellent defense.... and so on.

Flip Murray might very well be one of my favourite ever one year Hawks. For so long we needed some punch coming off the bench as he was that and more. I take my hat off to Flip for going to work this past season and wish him the best for the rest of his career.

(for the record, we'd be better as a team to re-sign him, but he would do better elsewhere now, and as mentioned, I don't want to impede the growth of Teague)
