Solomon Jones-Pacer

Post#1 » by blueandgold » Thu Jul 30, 2009 7:01 pm

Looking for replies with insight to Solomon Jones on several fronts:

1. As a person (Guns/Brawls etc)
2. As a Hawk (player teammate)
3. As an athelete and value to the Pacer organization

Thanks,

I always liked the Hawls and follow them in the playoffs.

No discipline/criminal issues that we know of. Seems like a great guy with a good sense of humor, but that's just judging by how he acts at games (from a distance).

He's basically an end-of-rotation big at best, but seems to be aware of his limitations. Over the past few years, he became a much more efficient scorer, but that had more to do with taking fewer shots. His offense is "dunk or bust," with an occasional outside jumper thrown in. (His jumper looks A LOT better).

A decent rebounder and shotblocker with little defensive fundamentals. He always reminded me of Steven Hunter.

As a player I will just say that many of us here were pretty surprised that the Hawks would give him a Qualifying offer to guarantee him a 1 year contract. Turns out the Hawks withdrew that qualifying offer at some point which is why the pacers were able to sign him.

1. Completely clean as far as I know.
2. Heard no complaints, but he did refuse to play summer league last summer.
3. Long and athletic. Fouls too much. Raw offensively. As far as value to the organization, it seems to me that you guys have adopted a shotgun approach of sign as many athletic young bigs as possible in hopes that one breaks out. Solomon seems like a long shot to win said battle in my mind.
