There is no way that we shouldn't be better.

We lost 1 contributor and gained 3 or 4 contributors in the offseason. We kept our starting 5 and greatly increased our depth. On paper, there is no way that we should not be better this year than last year. I agree with Joe and believe that we should challenge the Magic for the division crown and I also believe that we should challenge the other top teams for a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals. We are there talent-wise and we cannot use the excuse of being young anymore.

Joe could also be looking for exit excuses and/or challenging management to improve the team during the season if we are noth on path the beat ORL.
On paper, the Magic are stronger. I am not syaing that we could not top the Magic but it could be decided by injuries...

double negative

there is no way that we should get worst
we should get better

rich got richer

CLE- Shaq, can still put up 20/10, maybe, but their is a strong chance he is only going to play 60 games
BOS- Rasheed, is on the decline, but is only going to be asked to shoot 3s and rebound
ORL- Carter, elite scorer, but dominates the ball, replaces a good scorer in Hedo
ATL- Crawford, in his prime, him or Joe will have to learn to contribute without dominating the ball.

I think it is just as likely that the Hawks win less games than more games this year. Jamal is not much different than Flip ( in time you will agree), Joe Smith may be finally too old to make much a of a difference, Josh Smith should be better but who knows with him , Joe Johnson needs to play less minutes and is there any lingering impact for laying down vs the Cavs ? Also the teams below Atlanta have definitely improved.

I thought Flip was decent. Im not a big Jamal fan, but Im gonna remember this post and see. because in time, I really doubt I'll think that Jamal is not much different than Flip. Im pretty sure we will be much better this year, nut only time will tell

There's a difference between being a better team and getting more wins. We definitely are better on paper, but so are the teams ahead of us. The ones below us have also gotten better.

We may play better as a team but it still may not show up on the wins column.

I don't buy in to that philosophy at all. No disrespect intended believe me. As an athlete, I don't buy into moral victories meaning that I don't think you can truly be a better team without it showing up in the wins column. This is a common excuse that has been extremely overused by mediocre teams with high expectations. With that said, I am going on record with my prediction of 54 wins. I will also be the first to admit I was wrong if we don't see that increase. I will not say, however, that we were better, but the schedule was tougher, etc.

Oh yes, I almost forgot This is not a double negative since "There is no way" is an independent clause and "that we shouldn't be better" is a dependent clause. Since the negatives are in two separate clauses, it is acceptable grammar, and not a double negative. Please feel free to research that if you would like.

Double negatives are only a problem in formal language use anyway. They're actually quite prevalent in informal writing and conversational speech.
