Personally I'd cut Siler. Sims has a little bit of NBA experience under his belt and there's no reason not to keep Othello and Rio around.

I'd find away to ship out RanMo, sign Sims, Siler, and Rio, and then ship two of them to the D-League.

It seems that Sund will only sign one more player, while Woodson is lobbying for as many as he can get.

I don't see why we don't sign multiple players. They're cheap labor that we can lock up for a decent while on unguaranteed contracts. If they pan out, we have contributors for cheap who have some degree of loyalty to the team. If they don't, we can always waive them and get back a portion of the contract.

^^^Until January 10th, you're right.

My thoughts?

A. Sims and Hunter are a bit redundant (inexperienced forwards). Sign one of the two.
B. Siler and Morris are redundant (plodding bigs). Unless you think Siler can contribute as much as Randolph this season (not likely), let him go.
C. Sign West.

Bibby/Teague/West
JJ/Crawford
Marvin/Evans
Smith/Smith/Player "A"
Horford/Zaza/Collins/Morris

IMO, Morris already had his shot. We know he sucks. Siler is a project big, and probably sucks too. However, just by being bigger, he has more upside, and at worst will be harder fouls than Morris.

I'd sign Sims. I think Othello can be okay, but might as well take a shot on the D-League MVP.

The rumors are that we'll be one of the teams that doesn't keep a full 15, which would indicate several cuts might still coming.

I'd like to know how why you are so confident that Morris sucks and that Siler doesn't? Morris was a Mcdonalds All America in highschool and a 1st team all SEC player as a true sophmore in college at UK. Siler was just a division 3 player and it wasn't like he was putting up monster numbers there either. Keeping 4 reserves that have no chance in hell at playing another position(Zaza/Collins/Morris/Siler) makes no sense.

Morris is a known asset. He has close to no upside left. On the other hand, Siler is huge; at WORST he is 6 stronger fouls better than Morris.

You can't use the past. Ben Wallace played DII and was okay there and he seemed to turn out aight. JJ Reddick and Adam Morrison lit up college, and now they're scrubs. That's a TERRIBLE argument.

Morris has no upside left but Siler does? I thought this argument would die down once pre-season started. I can see the argument that Morris is bad(and I would agree),but there's not one thing I can think of that would make me think that Siler is better(the 6 stronger fouls part is laughable considering that neither of them would play enough to collect 6 fouls even if that was relevant) or that it would make any sense to use an extra roster spot on a center when we already have 3 reserves(none of which could play a second at PF) on guaranteed contracts.

I'd go with Hunter.

I could see Joe Smith getting a bunch of DNP's due to old man legs and Hunter filling his shoes with energy.

If the Hawks cut Siler does anyone really think that another team would pick him up off of waivers? Let him go to the D league- if she shows promise there then sign him back into the fold.

Agree. Hunter and west are the keepers.
