Josh Smith becomes youngest to 900 blocks

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Sat Oct 31, 2009 3:46 am

Josh Smith hit 8-of-11 shots and 4-of-5 free throws for 20 points, eight rebounds and two blocks in a win over the Wizards on Friday.
Smith's first block gave him 900 on his career, pushing him past Shaquille O'Neal as the youngest player in league history to hit that number. He didn't shoot a three tonight and hit his free throws. Don't look now, but Smith is off to a very hot start this year. Rotoworld.com

Hasn't even thought about a 3 in 2 whole games, making aggressive move towards the basket using his athleticism, blocking shots again like the Josh we all know. What's wrong with him, did he fall and bump his head this off-season snapping something into place?? He keeps this up and i will be looking a lot like this  all year.

Good to see the blocks back in his game as they disappeared last year as what I suspected was lingering signs of his ankle injury. I felt bad for Josh that Lebron got such defensive acclaim for his recovery blocks last year while Josh's frequency of those highlight plays waned. It's early but if Josh can maintain his focus this year and also enjoy good health maybe he'll start getting some all defensive team mentions.

I hope so too Evil, 5 steals one night and the next game a block on the outside. Good to see Al get 5 swats too, so Hubie can't say" outside of Josh, there's no shot blockers in the lineup" lol

I would kill for the job where you sit back and everytime somebody gets a milestone stat with at least '00' at the end, you go through the annals of the NBA to see who was the fastest/shortest/youngest/heaviest ever to reach it. Is that like an hourly-wage job with benefits and all? Wow!

That said, congrats Smoove! Catch ya at 1000 hopefully later this season!

I don't even think much about his blocks anymore. Right now i am curious to see if he continues to avoid the long jumper. Historically november has been a terrible shooting month for him. He was hurt early last year but his previous november numbers are really bad.

Nov '07 37.4% from the field
Nov '06 36.3%
Nov '05 37.5%

He would work on his jumper all summer than come in jacking them up left and right with predictable results. So far after two games he is shooting 71.4% from the field. It will be interesting to see if he reverts back to his bad habits.

I think those jobs tend to be done by interns, so you are probably talking very low pay and probably no benefits right now just to get your foot in the door.

man, people bitch too much about his threes and then go "meh, probably could of taken a better shot" on all his jumpers.

id rather have josh shoot a three than a medium to long range jumper.

just look at the laker game, he conciously didnt stand outside the three point line, so when he settled for long shots they were about 3 feet inside the line. The problem is he sucks just as bad at those as he does at 3's. so he might as well just shoot the three

I think Hoopinion actually ran a stats thing and concluded that Josh's points per possession drops when he doesn't take 3's, because then he's taking a long midrange-J, which he isn't any better at, and is worth 50% less.

TBH Josh shouldn't play more than 12 feet from the basket.
