I know it's early.

Atlanta 7 2 .778 --
Miami 6 2 .750 0.5
Orlando 7 3 .700 0.5
Charlotte 3 5 .375 3.5
Washington 2 6 .250 4.5

I still thnk Orlando is a lock to finish with a top 3 seed. Lewis is coming back and they are much less likely to wear down as the season goes down because of age(as opposed to Cleveland and Boston). I also don't see the difference in value between winning the division and getting a 3 seed as opposed to a 4 seed.

Magic fan here:

With the second Boston lose, Atlanta is now the overall #1 in the Eastern Conference. The Hawks and the Bucks will both be interesting to follow.

In the first round, the 4 plays the 5, whereas the 3 likely plays the 6. Worse still, in the second round, the 4 likely plays the 1, but the 3 plays the 2.

Example from last year. Orlando as the #3 played Philly as the #6. Atlanta as the #4 played Miami as the #5. Philly was probably the softest playoff team of the East. Miami certainly "scared" Atlanta. THEN, Atlanta had a 66 win Cleveland team. Whereas Orlando had 62 win (and minus KG) Boston.

There is typically a considerable difference between the #3 and the #4 seeds.

As a Magic fan, it is of interest that Atlanta is coming together as a team. I predict that Boston and Cleveland will fall apart (relative to elite teams). Thus, one can wonder if Orlando and Atlanta will have 60+ win seasons to jockey for the overall #1.

It could be a fun "Pennant Race."

Way too early to worry about seeding or winning the division for any of the teams. Just got to continue winning games and see where things shake out. I'm just basking in the joy that is our current play. We'll see how our guys handle some success that's the next step.

The Hawks matched up better with Miami than Philly last year.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
