Signing of Greg Oden

Post#1 » by playa_lev » Mon Dec 7, 2009 1:59 pm

I know this posing it’s a little weird right now, but as I know he has a player option (or team) next summer, and after this new injury, and with the history he has he could be available next summer.

This signing would be very risky to, but for a reasonable price I would consider signing him (3 years for 9-10M). He could give us a big body inside, a defensive and offensive presence in one person, which the Hawks still need.

Thoughts?

There's no way the Blazers let him go for that cheap, short of him going on a wheelchair-bound killing spree.

Oden is under contract to the blazers next season- there is no player or team option anymore.

Their team is capped out regardless for almost the next half decade after the Roy/Aldridge extension and considering their owner's deep pockets, I doubt they would mind holding onto Oden even after his rookie deal is up for no other sake than the pick they invested in him and his ties to their community. He would have to show zero chance of recovery for them to let him go which in turn means that he is useless to us.
