Joe for Arenas?

Post#1 » by Harry10 » Tue Jan 5, 2010 10:57 am

is this a good trade?

Joe
pros: great size, and can cause mismatch problems for the other team. not a distraction off the court.
cons: 6'9 SG (i see him standing next to Josh and they look like the same hight) but really doesn't use his size and strength to dominate other SG. not a max player.

Arenas
pros: considered by some as a top 10 player. can do everything that Joe can do and is slightly better at taking over games and closing games.
cons: could be a distraction. not an elite player (but is a legit max player). has a big contract and could the possibility hurt the Hawks at getting a good player at a decent contract this summer.

seems like the Hawks are a good team, but nobody considers the Hawks a legit championship team because they don't have that true closer. even with the possible distractions, could Gilbert give the Hawks that little edge they need not to blow second half leads?

We have Jamal Crawford, who brings to the table the same game what Arenas could bring.

I would rather do a Joe for Bosh, or somehow a Joe + Marvin for CP trade.

I like Arenas, but his past injuries would be a concern to me.

Horford/Smoove/Marvin/Jamal/Arenas

Arenas may never be the man he was before the injury.

Joe is better and don't remember the last time he was injured nor had gun issues.

Yeah... let's trade our star for a broken down player that was overrated to begin with and now looks like a shell of himself thanks to knee injuries. Great idea.

And who on earth considers Gilbert Arenas a top ten player? It's not 2007.

If he didn't have a terrible contract, if he hadn't lost a step, if he wasn't constantly injured, if he wasn't about to be suspended for the rest of the year.....then yeah sure.

The biggest cancers in the NBA Arenas, M. Redd or T-Mac among others. I would seriously think hard before rooting for any team that has any of those players. JJ is way better in every aspect than Arenas.
