I confess that I don't really follow hockey anymore, but I was a season ticket holder for many years. It was sad to see Kovalchuk traded to the Devils run across the ESPN ticker, but after reading the article on ESPN I'm not sure what more the Thrashers could have done to sign him. I doubt they got great value for him, but you never know. Pretty sure this means no playoffs in Blueland.

From my understanding the Thrashers have been trying to sign him, so I guess Kovalchuk made up his own mind. Oh well, I hope the Thrashers get things together, but this trade offically means it's rebuilding. I don't really follow hockey, but I do enjoy watching some of the games on tv.

The Thrashers give me no reason whatsoever to follow them. They are a poorly run organization that don't appear to have the competence and/orinterest in putting forth a winner.

Kovalchuk turned down like a 12 year 100 + million dollar deal didn't he?? He obviously wanted the hell out of Atlanta. What else were they to do?? Paying him that much money would have crippled and stunted that franchise into an even quicker submission or relocation. I actually think now they have a better shot than they had with him to survive in the A.
