Would this be worth the risk??

Post#1 » by SAUCERY_SWEET » Fri Feb 12, 2010 8:44 am

Saw this proposal on ESPN earlier this week and borrowed it off the Dallas board.

Boston trades: Rasheed Wallace and Scalabrine

Boston gets back: James Posey and Drew Gooden
...................................................................................

New Orleans trades: James Posey

New Orleans receives: Mo Evans and Scalabrine
...................................................................................

Dallas trades: Drew Gooden and Josh Howard

Dallas receives: Marvin Williams/Zaza/Joe Smith,1st rounder
......................................................................................

Atlanta trades: Marvin Williams/Zaza/Joe Smith/Future 1st rounder

Atlanta receives: Rasheed Wallace and Josh Howard

We would all of a sudden look more dangerous against a Cleveland or Orlando with this change, I wouldn't necessarily be all over this but if it happened i would be willing to roll with it. Makes us more challenging from many areas, Howard is a bit more assertive than Marvin and would add a whole new dimension to us on both sides of the court. Wallace although an aging horse would be much more challenging for Howard or the Cleveland front line than what we have currently. Obviously we'd have to put up with a lot of 3's. What's the thinking amongst the children??

On the other thread, I made a proposal also based on Zaza+Marvin and Evans, but for Maggette and Turiaf.

Even if I have some doubt on the real impact of Maggette, I prefer getting him than Howard, and Turiaf would be a better long term deal than Wallace due to the age difference.
Now, it's not the same thing, Wallace add lots of experience, can create more space with his long range shot.
On the other side, Wallace is happy when he wins, so it has to work, because him being not happy, added to Howard who can be a sensible case too... I'm not sure I would pull the trigger on this one, if possible.

I saw this deal in the most recent SI. At first, I thought this one has some merit. Howard is definitely better offensively than Marvin (I'm not sure how good he is on D though). Wallace is an interesting piece as he adds that inside/outside game from a legit big who can defend as well if not better than any big we currently have. However, there are some definite downsides. First, we lose a lot of depth. I think we would really miss Mo's energy, defense, and outside shooting. We would also miss Zaza's energy and offensive rebounding. Second, we would be taking on some guys with sketchy pasts. Sheed has changed his attitude, but who knows how things will be without other stabilizing characters like Billups or KG to keep him straight. Josh Howard has had his own issues lately off the court. I'm also not sure how much they will be able to help us going forward considering what we are giving up.

NOOOOOOO! Rasheed is done. If playing in Boston with KG can't get him motivated, we have no shot. We'd get a Josh Howard rental and Rasheed's contract for Marvin, ZaZa and 1st. I hate it.

Amen. Rasheed is trash. He has turned into more of an unconscious chucker. Wouldnt mind Howard at all but get someone else.
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.
