If Woody's Out. Who's in?

Post#1 » by notaneasywin » Sat Feb 27, 2010 5:10 pm

First time poster.

Watching the Hawks last night almost made me throw up. Its becoming more obvious that Woody has to go.

Not developing young talent, failure to adjust to matchups, iso-joe in the fourth quarter.... all those things I lived with reluctantly, because I thought the benefits outweighed the costs. But being on the court last night (whether he successfully jumped back 2 inches before kidd made contact with him is irrelevant to me. he shouldn't have been anywhere close) is the last straw.

Unfortunately, we seem to have some temperamental players who are used to playing with Woodson (JJ, JS, MW, etc). If the Spirit decide to make a change, who do they go with?

Lenny Wilkens.

Just kidding.

Byron Scott? Avery Johnson? I wouldn't mind either.

i actually wouldn't mind Lenny. he is a great coach who never had a great player. the best thing about Lenny is that he was great at developing young players. would love to see what he could do with Teague and Marvin

but yeah Avery Johnson should be ontop of the list.

Tubby Smith? Paul Hewitt?

No and No. College coaches just fail.

It will be funny to see Lenny and Donnie can fight it out for the wins record like JoePa and Bowden did....but hopefully not with Lenny in ATL.

I will just pretend that Paul Hewitt's name was not mentioned in this thread.

If it isn't Woodson, it probably isn't any bigger name candidate you can think of. Given the looming lockout and the financial uncertainties right now any replacement would likely be an assistant coach or more likely a low dollar retread head coach. I don't know my NBA assistants well enough to know who is a hot candidate right now.

This is what I was thinking. I've found Woodson's negative tendencies a little annoying...but the ASG probably can't afford a coach whose clearly better.

The guy doesn't even deserve to be coaching GT.
