Josh Smith or Gerald Wallace?

Post#1 » by ATL DirtyBird » Sat Mar 20, 2010 6:52 am

Who do you want on your team?
Gerald:10.4 rebs 1.55 stl 1.18 blk 2.1 ast 18.5 pts on .487 % shooting

Josh:8.7 reb 1.72 stl 2.09 blk 4.3 ast 15.8 pts on .509 %
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

It would be interesting to see what fans of other teams think about this one. For me, there is no way I can go against smoove. no way.

Josh is the better shotblocker, offensive rebounder, and passer. Wallace is better at everything else, though...

Added to the 2 blocked shots per game by Josh are the 5 or 6 per game that he changes. Take him out of the lineup and you probably add at least that many lay ups to the other team's stats.

Josh also has the edge on age 24 to 28 and injury history. Crash is on pace to have his healthiest season, but normally struggles to play 70 games. That's been about Josh's low end at this point in his career and is equally likely to play them all.

I'm not a J. Smith fan at all, but I admit he's had a good season. Now, Geral Wallace is having a monster one himself. The problem J. Smith has that I can't stand is he tries to be the hero all the time. He would be outstanding if he limited himself to his strenghts. He's not a PG but hey who cares, he wants to come up with those bullet passes that are TO prone all the time. He can't shoot to save his life, but who cares, he puts himslef beyond the 3pt line to win a game cause it doesn't matter if he can't even hit a FT. I'd take G. Wallace anytime. He hurts you mainly by attacking the basket and rebounding. He can also play great D and because he sacrifices his body so much, he's injured a bit too often, the only downside on his game. I think last night was a good reason to understand why G. Wallace was an All-star.

I would take Josh Smith... I think 9/10 people would agree. If you put Josh Smith on the Bobcats he would put up better numbers than G-Wallace is putting up right now. Smoove is a better passer than we all imagined... he can improve his game every year... maybe next year he can come back with a good mid-range jumper. I think any sane person starting a team would choose Smoove over Wallace. Josh is playing 7 less minutes than wallace...

if both players played 40 minutes then josh would average 18.0 points, 10.0 rbs, and 4.9 asts. Wallace would average 17.7 pts, 10.1 rbs and 2.1 asts... i got that from hollingers stats from espn.

Both players are good defenders but I think Josh is definitely the better player. I don't any hawks fans would complain about josh's production this year. Way to go Josh... keep it up!

i think one sport writer said that if Josh wanted too, he could lead the league in rebounds, and i kind of agree, i think if he focused on it, he could be a top 5 rebounder. some night Josh really does look like a prime Ben Wallace, grabbing 15 board and 3 or 4 blocks.

i think most people would take Josh. Gerald is a great energy guy, but Smoove is just such a difference maker on the defensive side.
