Why hasnt Josh done any filthy dunks this year?

Post#1 » by ATL DirtyBird » Mon Apr 5, 2010 5:46 am

Maybe it just, but has Josh been weary to do some of his sick dunks bc of that missed threw the legs dunk last year? Hes gotten out on the fast break by himself quite a bit this year and hasnt done anything. I was just thinking and missing his dunks.
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

I've noticed this too. Josh has seemingly lost a lot of his flair - and I can't recall him really posterizing anyone this year other than Ratliff.

He's more focused on doing the things that directly lead to winning games instead.
Besides, Jamal fills all quotas on playground ball for the team.

Nah, I was hoping to see that Jamal shimmy layup converted into an alley oop tomahawk over someone.

He's shooting 51% and finishing better than ever so I can live with it.

You'd rather he went between his legs and lost the ball in a playoff game?

I'd rather he went between his legs and dunked in a playoff game, so ATL would actually give a damn about this team.

^ Sorry, I thought you knew: Smoove DID go between his legs in a playoff game. It was a breakaway and he missed. Folks on TV laughed at him for days afterwards.

I'd rather we earned our respect by beating teams.

Im not complaining I was just wondering why he doesnt do it anymore. Hes one of the bst in the game and I miss it. Ill take him shooting 51% anyday over sick dunks.

I actually think that dunk helped alot. People were asking if he would ever grow up, and if he would ever learn. I think he got that message.

See, that's because he missed the dunk though. If he had MADE that dunk (and let's be real, it's not out of his arsenal), that would have made Sportscenter, and then maybe people would be like,
"Yo, you heard what Josh Smith did?"
"Who's Josh Smith?"
"Yo he's this crazy ninja who does between the legs dunks and swats blocks halfway to Argentina."
"For real? What team is he on? The Lakers?"
"Nah man, he's on the Hawks, you should check them out sometime."

We're a 50+ win team that's making the playoffs for the third time in a row, and Lakers fans still outnumber Hawks fans when the Lakeshow plays here. So yes, winning is obviously a big part of the equation, but I saw nothing wrong with what he tried to do. It's not like it was a close game when he tried it, or that he was contested, we were up 20 or so in a blowout game on a fast break.

I am more concerned about why he still doesn't box out.

Also Smith isn't shooting 51% on the season. His shooting percentage is 50% and dropping.
