I like this kid I think he'll go around 10 -15 in the first. I'd like to see us move up and get him.
7.0 and long, very active and blocks a lot of shots. You can't teach that. kind of a camby/josh type and can shot the ball abit. thoughts

Re: moving up to get Hassan Whiteside
Weakside shotblocking is the LAST thing the Hawks need in a big at this point. Smith is one of the best ever and Horford is terrific in his own right.
The Hawks need a big man who can rebound, play solid positional defense, and isn't undersized.

Re: moving up to get Hassan Whiteside
He's long, but very raw. He strikes me as one of those players that will still be a question mark at the end of his rookie deal (Diop?). His stats were built against lesser competition. He did play Tulsa that has a 7 footer projected in the 2nd round (Jerome Jordan)
http://espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=300340202
Whiteside 25 min, 10 pts, 1 reb, 5 blocks, 5 fouls
Jordan 36 min, 24 pts, 12 reb, 3 blocks, 4 fouls
Once you factor in the cost of trading up (whatever that may be) I theorize that Whiteside would be a very bad pick.
I'm more intrigued with Keith Benson 6-11 C from Oakland. I've seen him projected near our 2nd round pick. He strikes me as more ready to compete as his points, rebounds, and blocks have climbed steadily over his 3 years in college.

Well, you can never have enough blocking, but yes, I agree with mrh.

Re: moving up to get Hassan Whiteside
Whiteside is fantastic, but I don't see the need in buying a pricey 10-15 1st when there are so many other C in this years draft. There are a lot of C that intrigue me in this draft, but the one's I am most interested in are projected 2nd rounders: Miroslav Raduljica, Artsiom Parakhouski, and Brian Zoubek. I haven't seen any of them play, but reading about their style and skill level, they seem like quality 2nd rd. picks for a Center.
For the 1st rd., I'd be ecstatic if we were to be able to draft Solomon Alabi. But again, I think our best bet is drafting NBA ready talent for C (works hard on the boards and play positional defense) is going to be found in the 2nd rd. which is what we need.
I wouldn't be upset if Sund used both our picks on Centers, but the 1 player that really looks good to me and fills a hole in our roster is Jerome Randle. He is that PG that has quickness, 3pt. threat, pass-first and playmaking abilities. Sure he's short (5'10"), but if he is even a shell of what Darren Collison turned out to be (which he's been compared to) I'd be happy. I could see him backing up Teague when Bibby goes off the books.

I saw Randle play in highschool(same HS as Javale Mcgee). He's not going to be able to guard anyone in the NBA with his John McCain esque wingspan but he is quick and can flat out shoot the crap out the ball. He reminds me of a lesser man's Aaron Brooks on offense but that standing reach(7'4) scares the crap out of me. Guys like Deron Williams could just shoot over him like a chair. I could see him being a great player overseas.

i have no problems about getting Whiteside, but he is going lottery..... so who would you trade to move into the lottery?..... Marvin?...... and i don't think anybody would give up a high pick for Marvin.

I would go with best talent available on 1st round, Alabi, Hayward, Willie Warren, Orton or Lawal and in that order.
I would move up on second round and get Jerome Jordan or Ogilvy, Jordan has the size and skills to provide help now

I think about it maybe we should really zero in on Solomon Alabi. I think he would geve us everthing we need from a big man and he maybe the secoond coming of the "house of Motombo"
Seems like a good kid that would give use a post presents for block and rebound the first time he hits the floor. and he may fall to us or we may only have to move a couple slot to get him.
