1. Horford, Marvin, and Bibby (or Josh and Bibby) for Jason Thompson and Whiteside.
2. sign Brendon Haywood $35M for 5 years
3. sign Lebron (or Dirk)
C: Haywood, Zaza, Whiteside
PF: Josh (or Horford), Thompson
SF: Lebron, Evans
SG: Jamal, Jordan
PG: Teague
would be great to get a verbal commitment from Lebron or Dirk before making a trade, but Hawks use Horford or Josh to make a team take Marvin and Bibby. a similar trade could be worked out with the Griz.

Re: Trade Horford or Josh?
Why would Sacramento do that? Horford/Smith are better than Thompson but they have no need for Bibby or Marvin.

Re: Trade Horford or Josh?
I doubt that Sund would take a downgrade from Horford to Thompason to take a guy he passed on in the draft. It's also a little premature to dump Marvin and/or Bibby, since I would see 2-3 teams that each would prolly choose before coming to a team that just shed all it's veterans. as far as the offseason, it's plausible (kudos for that), but just not very realistic.
As for the initial ?, I think both players carry a lot of trade value, but honestly, I would just hold onto both and get someone like a Haywood (who's also already stated that he's looking to stay in DAL). IF there's no JJ, then we should just build around the athletic front court we have in which both Smith and Horford comprise. Getting someone who's a little more adept at guarding bigger post presences would be nice for 20-30 minutes / night, but I just can't us see creating a hole in the front court just because we can't grab a mid-level guy to compliment what we've got.

^^SAC would do it because it would be fantastic value for them.
That's why we WOULDN'T touch that trade.
Minus Tyreke Evans, there's not a player on SAC's team they wouldn't trade for Horford. I can't think of any 3 of those players they wouldn't trade for him.

My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

I agree that we will have to trade Josh or Al, but not this year. Our best 2 players play the same position. I think we should get a serviceable center and play Josh and al at the 4 and go long term with the one that fits our system the best. Trade the other for drafts and players.

Josh Smith is more valuable to the Hawks than Horford IMO.

For 1/2 court offense: Horford
For 1/2 court defense: Smoove
Open court/blocks: Smoove
Free throws/rebounding: Horford
1/2 dozen for one, 1/2 dozen for the other. I go with Horford as the solid more consistent player. He probably gives us more during the playoffs in that 1/2 court offense.
I move whoever you can get more for, but I see Horford the more true PF.

Horford is untouchable. Smith is only traded for a can't miss player.

So give away players to get cap room (and renounce everyone else) and magically convince Lebron to join them team. Now look at that lineup without Lebron in it and guess how well it will do.

Re: Trade Horford or Josh?
^ it is still really good -> Haywood/Horford/Salmons/Matthews/Crawford
Haywood and Horford would still give the Hawks one of the best interior defense in the NBA. you would have a play maker in Crawford, and the extra cap can be used for young guys like Matthew, Marrow.
the Hawks would make the playoffs but they would not win any championship, but if Wade, Lebron, and Bosh are in Miami, the Hawks are not going to win any championships with or with out Joe and Josh.
for the sake of basketball, they Hawks need to make a trade and play for somebody, because what is the point to watching the season if Lebron, Wade, and Bosh are on the same team!

Ha, Harry are you one of the owners wanting to use cap room mainly to not be able to exceed to Salary cap, and cut total salaries ?
I am sure that what you said in your last post is already in the head of at least one owner of ATL.
He will say it to other owners :
"hey guys, what is the point to watching the season if Lebron, Wade, and Bosh are on the same team ? If we are sure that we can't win a title, even the East, we have better to cut salaries and let good player walk, and just hope that Crawford cross-over and shake-&-bake will be fun and sell enough tickets for us to make some money"

Re: Trade Horford or Josh?
^ if one of the three, Lebron, Wade, or Bosh, takes a pay cut, to form their own little dream team, i'm not watching basketball (just college), this is just ridiculous, the players are forming their own monopoly or mafia, so what is the point of even competing? we watch because we want to see Kobe vs Lebron, or Bosh vs Dwight, KG vs Duncan, Jordan vs Malone, Wilt vs Russel, or Magic vs Bird, not to watch varsity vs jv.
ASG needs to get serious and make a commitment towards winning and go after somebody, but the problem is that they are cheap and they know that the Atlanta fans don't care about winning and care more about staying in budget and just be good enough make the playoffs, this is just pathetic.
