Biedrins?

Post#1 » by azuresou1 » Tue Jan 11, 2011 4:02 pm

According to some GSW fans, Biedrins could be had for expirings, but also for Zaza + Mo + Etan. Is this something we would be interested in? IMO this would be a clear no-brainer trade for us, but I want to see what you guys think.

The Warriors' board is accusing him of cocaine use, ya know.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

That's the only thing I saw on the GSW board, and if it was true, it would show, more than anything else, that drug tests are a joke in the NBA.

Yeah, I probably shouldn't just post something like that but I've been reading that when I've gone over to the GSW board for a few months now.

Let me just say the ASG would have to REALLY do due dilligence on any deal with Biedrins.

Who cares if he does cocaine! All NBA players smoke weed and do other drugs i'm sure. As long as it doesn't affect his play i could care less.

Have you ever heard of cocaine abuse, Yes. Marijuana abuse, no.
No 1 has ever overdosed on marijuana, I know of 70 year olds that smoke weed.

Biedrins could die from that sh*t (if true). :-?

Yes, I have heard of plenty of cocaine abuse among athletes (NBA and otherwise). Cocaine is odorless, easily concealable, and leaves the system quickly. It's actually pretty hard to find users of cocaine until the tell tale signs start popping up. Marijuana, OTOH, is not that easily concealable (unless it's the mexi-compacted $hit that NBA players aren't smoking), stays in your system for a month, and the good stuff smells to high heaven. So it's fairly easy to test for and find on someone's person even if you aren't looking for it.

Also, it's very doubtful that an athlete in his 20's who's already used cocaine would die from it. The key points to worry about would be a) 1st time use and b) complete overdose. People with heart problem - even as minor as palpitations and murmurs - have died from cocaine generally in the 1st use. Once you've used it a few times, that risk basically becomes nil and all you can do is overdose. It's actually fairly hard to overdose on cocaine since it leaves your system so quickly. And don't bring up Len Bias: rumor was that he ingested all the freebase cocaine (from which crack was eventually derived to replicate it's effects) for an entire party for his being drafted #2 overall when the cops busted in.

And no, it does not make the NBA drug policy testing a "joke". As stated, cocaine leaves the system very quickly (I think it's almost as quickly as alcohol) and would be hard to test for. You can basically party all night then go get tested in 2-3 days and you should be clean.

None of this is to imply that I'd want to trade for a known drug user though. I think that a team's camaraderie or chemistry is a grossly underrated influence for on court performance. If you've got a player on drugs, then that immediately means that he's got something that needs to be hidden from the rest of the players - or at least a majority of them. That alone will kill the camaraderie needed to propel a very good team to a great team.

FOOL.
Cocaine ruined so many good NBA players - Michael Ray Richardson, to name one.

Weed not so much, coke bad!

I'd trade for him in a heartbeat if that's what they are asking for him. He's a starting 5. I'm sure that even high Biedrins is way better than what we got here lol

Some wacko making S**t up without ANY basis.

There are factions of GSW "fans" who jump on "whoever" as a scapegoat and ,for Real GM purposes will trade him for the worst POSSIBLE crap....literally...nothing is too sucky. And then....time to find a new whipping boy.

The nasty part,is not that "pretend" stuff...it's that for so long GSW has had coaches and GMS going in circles in a desperate stampede, eager to 'save face" (and their job) by pretending a bad deal...is a good deal.

Were there a lot of options, maybe GSW trades Biedrins for another Center. However........who?
The Hey...lets just have NOBODY at C idea is dumb...and yeah...Nellie tried it OFTEN. Didn't fly.

You can bid...but you'd have to come up with a 3 way where GSW at least thinks they get a C. Obviously they have zero interest in Marvin or Zaza.

Seriously....while Bean's not getting involved enough in the game plan on offense or fouling a bit too often, bothers me...that Coke thing was pure MADE UP BULLCR*P...also know as Slander. hell, I COULD say Mike Bibby sells kiddy porn and cooks meth. Hell, I've got NO access to his life beyond seeing him on TV and have no credible word he's ever done that. I think the guy who made the claim, with no evidence...is now banned from the site. Real GM won't want the liability.

So....knock his FT % all you want but don't spread slanders until you have real facts behind it...and even then...do so with prudence.

As I recall...it wasn't 8 AM and it was after a late season game when Biedrins was on the injured list indefinietly and not playing . The guy said "some guy" supposedly saw him somewhere. He THEN...out of nowhere assumed that anyone up late must be on coke. Hell...I went to sleep about 4 am last night and had no dope, and just one beer.
