Atlanta makes two trades with Sacto and Toronto

Post#1 » by myrak433 » Mon Feb 7, 2011 7:25 pm

Atlanta sends Marvin Williams and Mo Evans to Toronto for Jose Calderon. Hawks send Jeff Teague and Etan Thomas to Sacramento for Jason Thompson. Then Hawks sign Stackhouse. New line up.

Calderon/Bibby
JJ/ J.Crawford
J.Smith/Stackhouse
Horford/ZaZa
Jason Thompson/ZaZa

Why for Atlanta they finally get a balanced line up with a starting caliber point and center and move Horford to his natural position of PF. And their bench gets better with Stackhouse.
Why for Toronto? They get rid of Calderon Large contract. They also can cut Evans if they want to get rid of more salary. Hawks also adds a first if need be.

Why for Sacramento? They coveted Teague and approached Atlanta earlier this season wanting Teague for Jason Thompson. I think Teague has a bright future just not in Atlanta, he needs to get some playing time and play through his mistakes.

After seeing Sund's recent comments, I don't think we'll ever trade for Calderon. No need to bother with thinking on it.

I'd also pass on a Thompson for Teague trade - just don't see Thompson as making a big difference here. Is he able to guard the legit C's in the post? Last time I saw him he couldn't, and if he still can't, then he doesn't bring anything we need. I'd rather go after someone else...
