Re: Joe for Deron?!?!?!
I think we would obviously do it but we need to find out what Utah is gonna do first. Are they gonna wait it out and hope he signs back? Trade him now?
I like what Evil said about Brooks. We should try and get him.

Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

I can't see Utah taking on what has been called one of the worst contracts in the league. They aren't a deep pockets ownership.

^ didn't Utah offer huge contracts to AK and Boozer, and took on big contracts like Jefferson

3 things: Larry Miller was still alive then. Now his children are in charge and I don't think they'll spend the same way. And #2 was that the contract to AK was largely seen as a mistake. He was compensated hugely playing PF, then struggled to maintain those levels of contribution as they added more pieces to the roster.
And the 3rd thing is that I don't doubt that they'll pay max dollars to Deron Williams, I just don't see them paying the max for a 30 year old SG.

Re: Joe for Deron?!?!?!
I doubt Utah would trade for JJ, but Deron is now very unlikely to re-sign in UTAH. We need to spend the next 12 months trying to gain salary cap flexibilty to make a run at him as a free agent. That means dumping salary, taking on expriring contract and acquiring lots of draft picks in case of a sign and trade. Utah has never been a desirable location for young, black free agents. With Sloan now gone, they are essentially out of the equation.
I do think that Deron and Joe would make [arguably] the best backcourt in the league. (Think of the size, the shooting, the defense!!!)
Getting Deron, Joe and Horford on the same team would get us our own super threesome and should be the highest priority of our front office.

I'd easily pull the trigger on this, and half Bibby as our 1b sixth man would be perfect. I just hate Joe's contract and I'm amazed we even gave him that much too this day. He's no better then Granger.

Re: Joe for Deron?!?!?!
Joe's signing was out of the threat of him leaving for NY himself as a FA and I truly believe that behind the scenes Hawks ownership thought Joe was going to be traded and play next to LBJ in NY but we all know how that turn out. So they are slightly over paying him. Big deal. There are players that get paid far more than they or worth. At least Joe is a TOP 25 player in the NBA.
VOTE Rod Strickland into the H.O.F.!!!

But their teams don't win a second round, or they played for teams that pay LT, and can live with overpaying if it means having the players they want.
ATL is not in this last case, so let's see if they can win a second round series with the highest salary in NBA while not paying any LT.
It will be hard, so I let you imagine what is needed to win a Conf Final or NBA Final
