Josh Smith trade. by me!!!!

Post#1 » by myrak433 » Wed Jun 1, 2011 11:15 pm

I would rather trade Horford. but I decided to look for a suitable Josh Smith trade(in my opion).

out Smoove and Marvin

in Monta Ellis and Biedrins.

Teague/Kirk (new six man)
Ellis/ Kirk
JJ/ Prince
Horford/ Kirilenko(smoove's replacement if we can pay him)
Biendrins/ZaZa

GS fans said they would do either Smoove or Horford. I still would rather trade Horford...... it is just easier to replace what Horford brings to the table.... harder to find a replacement for Smoove.

ALTERNATIVE:

Teague/ Kirk
Ellis/ Kirk
JJ/ Prince
Smoove/ Troy Murphy
Biedrins/ Zaza

Mike Brown says:
"you can take your defense from team to team as long as you have effort."
Brown referred to the statistic that the winner of the Dallas-Miami NBA Finals will be the 15th champion in the past 16 years to have a defense ranked in the league's top eight.

that right there explains why we can never do a trade with Golden State for defensive big men. ever.
....
that top 8 is really eye opening. That top 12 defense was really outdated. So by opening day we should know if we're elite defense.

this looks like the Orlando trade were they traded away alot of defense for alot of offense.

adding another scorer like Monte is not going to help the Hawks. having enough scorers is not the problem.... having a system that gets the post players involved into the offense is the Hawks' biggest problem.

If you want defense, how about KG for Smith and Williams?

The Ellis-Biedrins for Josh + Marvin thing pops up in different variants... but,if the Ellis-Smith part might interest both...somewhat...the outcome of this is that GSW ends up with more that $25 mill tied up in 2 PF's...with a raw C, minus the top scorer-team leader-go-to guy and SG. Marvin? Never wanted him even when he was hyped for "big Upside/future All Star. He always had physical tools but never the focus, the effort, even at UNC. He'd be a costly backup behind a cheaper D Wright. GSW can use Al Thornton for that niche.

Best case Biedrins vs worst case Biedrins? Probably, GSW has seen both, probably the next coach is gonna be advised that he needs to USE his centers and PF's, has to put in the time to fix any and every problem, has to get that players are people, not pegs you hammer into holes they don't fit.

I do believe both Biedrins and Ellis can be PLUS defense....despite the fact that since the Nellie return, defense was compromised by a strategy where the focus was on launching fast breaks....not the usual priorities of wrecking the other team's FG%,completing stops. GSW had TWO guys who have in past years been top 5 rebounders (11 + rebounds) yet chose to either NOT play both, or to have one (usually Biedrins) scrambling about on the perimeter on the theory that double teams can create turnovers and turnovers can create a fast break. Nellie LIKED uptempo, but undervalued the big guys. He went with an overkill "small" lineup when he COULD have had a big speed edge...and the size to have D and REB. Smart, a Nellie prodigy, was a bit more concerned about D...but coached like a desperate rookie coach on thin Ice. GSM Riley...left him a short roster and busted chemistry.

GSW needs a PRAGMATIC coach, not an Ideology guy. GSW needs to GAIN stability-chemistry, not deal off the only guys that were there more than 2 yr.

Yet....it still disturbs the ATL guys, who fear the worst.

I'd be quite willing to swap Lee for Smith. I would not touch this.
CENSORED... No comment.

What would ATL think of this:

Atlanta gets: Haywood, Brewer, Dallas first
Dallas gets: Pierce
Boston gets: J Smoove

You guys get a center that you've needed for so long and a few other pieces.

Not getting nearly enough in return for Smith on that one.

Ellis/Smith value wise is reasonable it's just that Atlanta stays in place overall and add more holes as well. I don't see the benefit for Atlanta. I really don't see it for GS either.

If defense is the issue how about a three way trade of:

- Williams to the Bucks
- Salmons to the Lakers
- Artest to the Hawks
