Marvin Williams - 8 mil

Trevor Ariza - 6.7
Quincy Pondexter - 1.1

Why for Atlanta? You save 5 million bucks to help re-sign Crawford. You bring in a C who is better suited for the eastern conference, which would allow Atlanta to finally move Horford to PF--his natural position. Your front-court would instantly be the best defensive front-court in the east. You swap Marvin for Ariza and add more athleticism and defense..something you need with shooters you have. Ariza has also shown that he can hit the 3pt shot and while still being young (25), he can still improve his jumper and become a more efficient shooter. Pondexter seems like he will be a great glue guy. He's got a great feel for the game and with the proper tutelage could be a good player one day.

Teague/Hinrich
JJ/Crawford
Ariza/Q-Pon
Horford/?
Okafor/?

CP3/Jack
?/Belinelli
Williams/Ewing
Smith/Landry
Zaza/Gray

Guess who would be guarding Howard if we do this trade: Zaza again. Howard right now would destroy Okafor. I like the player, but he is going down with no brakes.

It is just incredible that, after a few years of discussing Josh Smith role and output in the team, it is now the player who wants to leave. One has to see things really ugly to decide leaving your city in order to get to another place because you don't like your role, the way the team plays or the coach. And this reasons are the cause of JSmith's desire to leave.
If the franchise had decided to trade the player some time ago, the offers could have been better. Now it is the player who wants out and the list of teams he mentioned are not a great deal so we can obtain something.

It is also really pathetic that, just a year since we decided to spent 120 millions on JJ, the FO wants to get rid of him.

Clearly they have seen that it is almost impossible to set a new playing system that maximizes Teague's, Horford's and Smith's strengths while JJ has the ball so much time in his hands. JJ's style of play does not fit any team in the league, unless he goes to Miami and sees form a side or unless he becomes the new Jordan and scores 35 per game (with good percentages), in which case everything would be alowed.

Where have you heard that Josh wants to leave? The rumors are that the Hawks might be shopping him, that isn't the same as a player demanding to be traded.

Don't know if this has been discussed yet but how about this:

Suns trade:
Rolo
Pietrus
#13 pick in 2011

Atl trades Josh Smith

As a draft day deal salaries should be close enough to match. $10m for $12.5m.

Atl gets to reset with young talent. Rolo is only 23 and may just need a change of scenery. Pietrus is still streaky but can defend.

Phx is still committed to Nash and Hill so they should be willing to take on the relatively short contract of Smith. With Nash spoonfeeding him could be a mix between Matrix and Amare.
