could Drew Gooden play Center for Atlanta? maybe trade Marvin Williams for Gooden. while Gooden has the longer contract, marvin's is more per year which should allow the hawks to get another strectch big and feel out the bench.

Teague/ Kirk
JJ/ Kirk
Smoove
Horford/
Gooden/ ZaZa

I still like trying to get Murphy and Kwame better

Milwaukee and San Antonio have already failed trying him at C and I just don't trust him as teams always seem to regret picking him up and then magically get better once he's gone. Doesn't matter if he makes less annually, once you factor in the extra year you are actually paying him 2 mil more than Marv. You don't compound bad contracts by picking up old players on worse contracts especially when they are already starting to look less durable than Marvin. Stick with Kwame and Murph, they certainly will come cheaper and be better low risk high reward players as I'm confident they'll make less combined than Drew when the league starts up again..

What "stretch big"? Think we could steal Brian Cardinal on the cheap?

You're looking for Memo Okur. Hes a stretch center. Gooden is a midrange forward.

I know gooden is a midrange big. and he may be best suited as a PF, but he is bigger (or plays bigger) than Horford. he is most definitely longer than Horford. so I believe we would be big enough with Gooden at the 5 Horford at the 4 and Smith at the 3. Gooden also rebounds better than anyone on the Hawks right now, he can defend the five epecially with Horford and Smoove help defense. so I was saying add Gooden plus a strectch Big Okur would be good Ryan Anderson would as well. but Troy Murphy and Peja Stojakovic are free agents as well. I know Peja isn't really a big........ but he is 6'10"

Gooden isn't longer than Horford, Can't defend 5s at least not better than or even close to as good as Al, and doesn't rebound better than Al. Acquiring him is with the strict distinction that he's going to play PF while leaving Al at C. At that price, age, and fact he's going to be the 3rd best PF on the roster I really don't see him as a get. Now if he get's amnestied.....sure, he'd be intriguing on a much much smaller deal.
