Well, this is good and bad to me. Good because I really think Kirk is more valuable as trade bait since he has a expiring and it will not give LD a chance to start Kirk at the beginning of the season and hide Teague again. Bad, because it really does not make sense to me. He should have had this surgery way before a couple of weeks ago. That most likely means we are going to have to pick up a veteran minimum backup PG or FA rookie, hopefully either way it is obvious that we want need Kirk so he can be traded. Also, if we don't resign Jamal and we don't have Kirk we will need to do something about backup SG.

This will hurt our backcourt, but I gotta agree with you that it keeps Larry Drew from making a bad decision with respect to not playing Jeff Teague. Sad that we as a fan base trust Larry Drew so little.

Just pick up McCamey and wait for Hinrich to come back. By then, he will probably be ready to be traded to maybe the Lakers for a first and Ebanks plus filler. That at least would cover what we gave up kind of. Definitely hurts our backcourt though.

Outside of McCamey (already mentioned) does anyone have candidates for low cost backcourt help? It'll be interesting to see if Pape Sy can stay healthy and contribute, but with the injury and the departure of Jamal there will be backcourt minutes available.

Earl Watson is a minimum level type guy. Let's just admit it we are scraping the bottom of the barrel until the ASG and Sund are gone   Typical Hawks.

Everything I read says he is expected to miss atleast the first month of the season. Listen guys, sorry to be negative but I hated that Kirk trade from day 1 and think it is just as bad or worse than resigning Marvin. We gave up 2 1st round picks and took on more salary for basically nothing. Kirk played no more of a role than Jason Collins when it comes to getting us out the 1st round.

Had we only gave up Jordan Crawford, the trade would have been better than most give credit for. Hawks could have used that first for something in the draft. Other than that, Kirk gave us more versatility and defense in the backcourt, while still having the 3 point threat.

Damn of all the franchises to outsmart you in a trade? the Washington Wizards?
I mean how stupid is Rick Sund? And other media/execs were saying it was a good trade.

He really thought a 31 yo Hinrich would get the team into the ECF? So much that you bet your 1st rounder on it.
I mean how stupid and shortsighted.....
