Smith (PF) for Hansbrough (PF) is a salary dump. But as for his success? Its not lucky half a season.
Some teams have 6'6 centers and PFs. Hansbrough is 6'9.5" NCAA scoring leader. He has the basic NBA post moves. He can shoot over 6'6 guys. The jab fake, followed by a drive. Gets cut off spin and hook shot. Drive and get fouled, Pump fake and jump. Cradle the ball and use your length to throw up the rock. Hoop and harm

Always wanted to ask people this what qualifies as a lucky season? big man play is the simplest part of the game. You shake your man, drop step and hook shot.

If you have someone crowding you go by and make a play, if not shoot it. You run up and down a few times and try to catch your man sagging off and hit the set jumper. Its Fundamentals.
=========
Hansbrough falls in a wingspan range that a lot of good big forwards (6'11 - 7'0) have.
Now If only he could shoot 3s... Hey!

One of these days y'all reckon that 2nd round Jon Leuer guy might have a good/lucky season? Marvin? What qualifies as good/lucky season for a 2nd overall pick nowadays?

He had one good month where he had shots falling, had a few calls go his way, and played some lousy frontcourts in his big games, with the exception of one Bulls game. He would be okay off the bench backing up better 4. Which is what Indy intends on doing.

David West followed by Hansbrough would be better than okay.
He dropped 29 points on the Knicks. Why because Amare plays no defense. How many teams dont have a lousy frontcourt.

There's a lack of big men in the league. It's not a fluke, thats why Thibodeau put the longer quicker more defensively attentive Noah on him rather than Boozer.

Most every team has at least one "big" that they'd like to get rid of. Not to say Smith for Hansbrough is anything but a salary dump but give credit where credit is due.
Hansbrough is a good big man. I'd take him in the core over Marvin or Jason Collins.

What would it take for the Celtics to get Jsmoove?

Bird would have won 4 rings with that team, in this weak ass era of basketball.

Really isn't much talent-wise outside of Rondo but I'd guess the idea would be to reunite Smoove with his high school bud so that's a no go. Best possible move is a salary dump of Smith and Marvin for KG's expiring and the Clipper pick but that's a back pocket deal that you hold onto rather than shoot for on the outset.

Would you guys do a three team trade where you guys get Kaman instead?

Any trade where the talent we're receiving isn't comparable with what we are sending out has to then be a salary dump that also includes Marvin. Kaman would be no different, his expiring and a pick would be yet another back pocket deal that we hold onto that would involve dumping Smith and Marvin.

This allows Horford to move to the 4. The domino effect (on offense and defense) therein should provide more than enough value.

At least thats what happens when you trade Horford for Dwight and Andersen or Bogut + Leuer and Slide Smith's size to the 3.

I kid I kid... not enough return value for MIL/ORL, depreciating asset, etc etc. I know. :D

Kaman is not even a decent return on Josh Smith. Don't even think about good, not even decent. Kaman is barely worth Hinrich and Zaza to be honest.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
